dg.muslim.child-bride[Pak Tribune] ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) on Tuesday ruled that Pakistani laws prohibiting marriage of underage children are un-Islamic.

At the end of its two-day session on Tuesday, the CII said that according to Islam there is no minimum age of marriage. Islam does not forbid marriage of young children, the council said. However, the rukhsati (consummation of marriage) is allowed only in the case that both husband and wife have reached puberty.

The CII’s ruling comes a day after its chairman, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani said laws regarding second marriage of a man in the presence of the first wife were against religious principles.

“Sharia allows men to have more than one wife and we demand that the government should amend the law,” he told reporters after a CII meeting.

The laws require a man to have written approval from his existing wife or wives for another marriage. Sheerani urged the government to formulate sharia-compliant laws related to nikah, divorce, adulthood and “will”. According to the constitution, the CII is a recommendatory body that advises parliament in the law-making process, but cannot enact laws on its own.

On Monday a meeting of the CII held under the chair of Maulana Sheerani discussed exhaustively the Islamic Family Laws 1961. The CII declared one section of the law un-Islamic under which a man is bound to seek explicit approval from his first wife for second marriage. “Under shariah a man is not bound to seek approval for second marriage from the first wife,” declared Maulana Sherani.

        Now let us see how thighing is practiced on a female child & who began this evil practice. According to an official Fatwa issued in Saudi Arabia, the prophet Muhammad began to practice thighing his child-bride, Aisha when she was 6 years old until she reached 9 years of age (Fatwa No. 31409). The hadith mentioned the prophet Muhammad started performing literal sex with Aisha ONLY when she reached the age of 9 (Sahih al-Bukhari, book 62, hadith No. 89).

        Muslim scholars collectively agree, a child becomes an adult, available for sexual intercourse as soon as she reaches the age of nine. Likewise, the Shari’a allows any of the faithful to marry a six-year-old child.

        According to the fatwa, the prophet Muhammad could not have sex with his fiancée, Aisha when she was six due to her small size & age. However, the fatwa said that at age six, he would put his penis between her thighs and massage it gently because he did not want to harm her.

        Imagine a man of 51 removing the clothes of a 6-year-old girl and slipping his erect penis between her thighs, rubbing her until he ejaculated and his semen ran down her thighs. To this day, this is considered a benevolent act on the part of the adult male “not wanting to harm her.” What harm could be inflicted upon a young girl mentally and emotionally if not a grown man showing her his penis and stripping her of her clothes and rubbing his male organ between her legs?

        Of course the twisted mind that does such an evil to a female child, would not hesitate to ejaculate on her body. And if this sexually perverted evil frame of mind committed such an act upon a child, the pedophile would not stop at ejaculating on her. His evil desire would go further and rape the child before she was a mature adult. This is exactly what Muhammad did to Aisha when she was yet a child of 9.

        After the committee studied the issue, they gave the following reply: ‘It has not been the practice of the Muslims throughout the centuries to resort to this unlawful practice that has come to our countries from pornographic movies that the kofar (infidels) and enemies of Islam send. As for the Prophet, peace and prayers of Allah be upon him, thighing his fiancée Aisha. She was six years of age and he could not have intercourse with her due to her small age.

        That is why the prophet peace and prayers of Allah be upon him placed his penis between her thighs and massaged it lightly, as the apostle of Allah had control of his penis not like other believers'” (Fatwa No. 31409).

        Thighing of children is practiced in many Arab and Muslim countries, notably in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iran, and the Gulf countries.         MARRIAGE AGE LAWS UNISLAMIC: PAK SCHOLARS

        The CII announced that laws setting age for marriage are un-Islamic and that Muslim children can get married at any age once they attain puberty.

        KARACHI – A ruling by a prestigious religious council describing laws banning underage marriage in Pakistan as un-Islamic has divided the country’s scholars and activists over the Islamic ruling and changing economic conditions surrounding the widespread practice.

        “Terming the underage marriage completely invalid and illegal is not the right thing,” Maulana Wali Razi, a Karachi-based religious scholar, and a former state minister for religious affairs , told OnIslam.net.
        “There are examples of underage marriages even in the Islamic history , including that of noble Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon Him) with Umm-ul-Momineen ( Mother of Muslims), Syeda Ayesha Siddiqa (RA),” he added. Maulana Razi was commenting on the ruling of the country’s Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) issued on Tuesday which sparked contradicting reactions.

        The CII, a constitutional body responsible for giving legal advice to the government on Islamic issues, announced that laws setting age for marriage are un-Islamic and that Muslim children can get married at any age once they attain puberty.

        Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani, a former senator, who is serving as the CII chairman for the second term, ruled that the laws are unfair as no age could be set for marriage, and Nikkah of even minors can be solemnized but only with the consent of their guardians.

        However, the wife and the husband could only be allowed to live together once they reach puberty.
        According to current laws, the minimum age for a girl to marry is 16, and for a boy is 18. However, the said laws are practically not followed, especially in rural Pakistan.

        Islam highly appreciates marriage and gives it due care stating detailed rules and ruling in every single and small matter.

        Islam doesn’t impose a specific age for eligibility for marriage and leaves it for the legal authorities to decide the proper age for marriage in order to maintain interests of both husbands and wives.
        This, of course, changes from one country or community to anther depending on many considerable factors.

        In Islam also it is not permissible for the guardian to compel the one under his guardianship to marry someone she does not desire to marry.
        Rather, it is necessary to seek her consent and permission.

        CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES

        Though Maulana Razi agreed that there is no age limit set for marriage, he asserted that underage marriages can create a host of social and economic problems not only for the couple, but for their families as well.
        “Things have completely changed. Every era has its own demands and conditions,” Maulana Razi told OnIslam.net.
        “Today’s children are not that mature. In my opinion, they (underage couples) are not able to cope with the tough terrain of marriage”.
        “Nowadays, personal liking and disliking are very important. The children may bow to their parents at the time of wedding no matter they like each other or not, but after marriage, their life will be in deep trouble,” he maintained.
        Economic issue plays an equally vital role in regard to underage marriage, Razi opines.
        “It’s not the old era when necessities of life were limited, and people could survive with minimum means. It’s the era when economy prevails,” he thought.
        “If the husband is a minor and totally dependent on his parents, how would he cope with his and his wife’s economic needs,” Maulana Razi asked.
        “It (dependence) will create an animosity within the family”
        Moreover, he said, the underage couple will more be involved in handling the domestic affairs rather than their education.
        “Therefore, in my opinion, once a boy is economically and socially settled, then he should get married. No doubt as soon as possible,” he added.
        “But, let me make it clear again, there is no age limit for marriage in Shari’ah,” he maintained.
        Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, the chairman of moon-sighting committee, agrees.
        “The guardians have the authority to marry their children on the pretext that being parents they would take all decisions for the betterment of their children,” Mufti Muneeb told OnIslam.net.
        “But, if it is proved that parents have misused this right for vested interest, then the state has the authority to take action,” he clarified.
        Mussarrat Jabeen, a women rights activist and a columnist, however opposes the CII ruling.
        “Underage marriage means, you are snatching their childhood,” she told OnISlam.net.
        “It is a proven fact that even if a child skips one year through double promotion in school, he or she misses the entire environment that he or she should have experienced during that one year,” she opined.
        The women rights activist, however, agreed with Maulana Razi that the mental immaturity can cause various social issues for the underage couple.
        “Marriage requires mental maturity and sanity. And if this is not there, the marriage will turn out to be a total mess,” Jabeen contended.

        SANAA – As the story of the Yemeni child who has reportedly died on her wedding night continues to cast shadows on the Yemeni government, a prominent Yemeni official has called to activate the legal age for marriage bill and raise it to 18 years.
        “We are asking to fix the legal age for marriage at 18, as Yemen is a signatory to the international conventions on children’s rights,” Yemen’s Human Rights Minister Huriya Mashhoor, told Agence France Presse (AFP) on Saturday, September 14.
        The minister noted that she aims to activate legal age for marriage bill which was issued in 2009 and subsequently froze by Al-Islah party.
        “I wrote to the president of the chamber of deputies to re-file on the parliamentary agenda the bill limiting the age of marriage,” Mashhoor said.
        Moreover, she urged to amend the minimum age for marriage to be 18 years, instead of 17.
        Mashhoor’s proposal followed last week reports about the death of an eight-year-old girl in Yemen of internal injuries on the first night of her marriage to a man in his 40s.
        The story of Rawan’s death, denied by local officials, has sparked anger over the old Yemeni practice.
        Child marriages are widespread in Yemen.
        Estimates show that 52 percent of Yemeni girls are married off before the age of 18 and 14 percent before the age of 15.
        There are some cases in which young girls as little as 8 were being allowed to enter a marital union.

        WORRYING TRADITION
        The minister’s proposed bill followed Yemeni officials’ denial of the incident, confirming that Rawan is still alive.
        “The young girl Rawan Abdo Hattan is still alive and normally lives with her family who, in turn, deny the whole thing,” Ali al-Qaissi, the governor of Hajja province, told Yemeni official news agency SABA on Saturday.
        “The young girl is currently in a social protection centre after undergoing physical and psychological tests in a public hospital in the area.”
        Prior to Al-Qaissi’s statement, the Human Rights Minister said that they still lack ‘evidence’ to the girl’s death, raising concern about the attempts to ‘silence’ the case.
        “We do not have enough evidence at the moment about the incident,” Mashhoor said.
        “But I am worried that there could be an attempt to silence the matter, especially as it took place in an isolated rural area in Hajja province where there have been similar cases before.
        “If the case was confirmed and covered up, then the crime would be more serious,” she added.
        Last Wednesday, Human Rights Watch warned that 14 percent of girls in Yemen are married before the age of 15, and 52 percent before 18, citing Yemeni and 2006 data from the United Nations.
        In certain rural areas, girls as young as eight are sometimes given in marriage to men much older than they.
        Earlier in 2012, a HRW report said the repercussions of child marriages reverberate throughout Yemeni society as it prevents women from completing their education, keeping Yemen in a state of prolonged ignorance.
        The problem of Yemeni child marriage caused worldwide outrage in 2010, with the case of Nujod Mohamed Ali who had been married at the age of 10 to a man 20 years her senior in 2008.
        Granted a divorce after he sexually abused and beat her, Ali became involved in campaigns against forced underage marriages, leading to calls to ban women from marrying before the age of 18.
        Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the highest religious body in the Sunni Muslim world, has recently issued a manual on the rights of Muslim children.
        “Marriage in Islam is regulated by certain rules, namely, children must reach puberty and maturity so that they can get married,” the manual said.

        “I had no idea what did marriage mean? Sassi told IOL.
        KARACHI — Eleven-year old Sassi is currently hiding at a shelter home located in a slum area of Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi.

        She is not hiding from police, but from her own drug-addict father, who had sold her in the name of marriage to a 70-year old man when she was 9 in 2005.
        “I had no idea what did marriage mean? I remember my mother was crying, and fighting with my father, who was forcing me to go with them (her husband and family),” Sassi told IslamOnline.net in the corridor of her shelter house.
        “They beat up my mother who was trying to save me.”
        Hailing from a small town Thatta, located some 100 kilometers off southeast Karachi, Sassi had been recovered by the local police on the request of her mother who filed a petition in a court some 20 days after her daughter’s forced marriage.
        “They forcibly took me to their home in a nearby village,” she recalled.
        “As soon as I reached their home, one of their women gave me something to eat, which got me unconscious. When I woke up the next morning, my clothes were littered with blood.”
        Sassi said she was “molested” by her husband several times.
        The police arrested her father and her husband, who were later released on bail following non-pursuance of case by her mother.
        The father had received Rs 70,000 (1200 US dollars) for marrying her to the aging man.
        Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said on Tuesday, December 5, his government was planning legislation to outlaw forced marriages, including a practice of marrying off women to settle disputes.
        The annual number of child marriages taking place in Pakistan remains unknown.
        It is believed most such forced marriages, many occurring in relatively remote rural areas, go unreported.
        Parents are often tempted to sell off young girls in exchange for the high price offered by grooms, often many times the age of their brides.
        Bride prices commonly range from $1,000 to $5,000, with younger girls drawing a larger amount.

        NIGHTMARE

        Sassi said the days she spent with her husband were her worst nightmare.
        “I didn’t know what to do. I just wanted to either die or flee from there,” she said with her eyes welled up with tears.
        “But he used to keep a close eye on me. It seemed as if he knew about my wish.”
        Sassi was sent by her mother to a shelter home, run by an NGO providing shelter to homeless women, with the assistance of Thatta-based women organization.
        “My mother sent me here because they (her husband and his family) had threatened to abduct me,” she said.
        “They said that I am the honor of their family, and they can’t let their honor to go away.”
        Sassi is studying, working and residing in the shelter house.
        “I am very happy here. I don’t want to go back.”
        Haider Rizvi, Chairman of the Department of Psychology, University of Karachi, warns of the extreme adverse physical and emotional impacts of such marriages.
        “If a young girl gets married in her quite early age carries many health hazards like poor reproductive health due to increased pregnancies, therefore chances of death become double,” he told IOL.
        “The poor young poor girls cannot get proper education, cannot even get the opportunity to learn the domestic work/skills……..especially when the expectations of in-laws are quite high then domestic problems are started……consequently end up with early divorce.”
        The expert also notes that with a big age difference, the chances of becoming a widow at a younger age is more likely.
        “Psychological theories reveal that most of us develop a primary relationship with someone who is within three years of our own age. In our urban society, now the acceptance has been developed for young couples; on contrary in rural or slum areas the situation remains the same where the female is considered as a child producing machine or a sex-tool.”
        Rizvi maintains that it is high time for parents to think and revise their cultural and family norms.
        “The early marriages for the girls should be discouraged at every level of the society.”

        COMMON

        Sassi ‘s lawyer, Saleha Naeem, says early marriages are common in rural areas of the South Asian Muslim country, where women make up nearly 52 percent of the population.
        “This is not the only case. I am also seeing the cases of three other girls, and one of them was married when she was only 6 years old,” Saleha told IOL.
        According to the law, she says, a girl cannot marry until she is 16, but like all other laws, the implementation of this law is weak.
        Saleha thinks the specter of illiteracy is behind the early marriage phenomenon.
        “A majority of people in the rural areas are unaware of the importance of an educated mother. Instead of providing education to their daughters, they want to get rid of them as soon as possible by marrying them to even men of their fathers’ age,” she said.
        “There needs to be greater awareness on a wider level of the rights of women and also punishment for those who violate laws by selling their children. The impunity available to them has aggravated the situation,” insisted the lawyer.
        The Sindh and southern Punjab region is one of the most impoverished in the country, and research carried out into the issue indicates this is a key factor in the increase in such unlawful unions.
        “This phenomenon is common in families belonging to low income bracket,” Justice (rtd) Majida Rizvi told IOL.
        “They generally consider girls as burden, and illiteracy is a major reason for that. As soon as the girls turn 11-12, they think it is high time to get rid of this burden,” she said.
        “It’s a perverted society in many ways. We have reports that such marriages are becoming increasingly common, and they will stop only if the law is applied.”

        COMPLICATED

        Justice Majida, who was Pakistan’s first woman high court judge, notes that the legality of early marriages in Pakistan is a complicated issue.
        “Under Pakistani law, the Child Marriage Restraint Act of 1929 states no female under 16 or male less than 18 may marry. But under Hudood Ordinance, as soon as a girl reaches her puberty, she can marry,” aid the chairwoman of Women Rights Commission.
        “This complication needs to be sorted out because Pakistan is a warm country, and generally girls reach their puberty at 11 or 12 years here,” Justice Majida said.
        In 1990, Pakistan ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Child, which prohibits child marriages.
        In addition under the Muslim Family Law Ordinance, a girl must have attained the age of 16 and a boy must have turned 18, and both need to consent before the marriage can take place.
        Hassamuddin Mansoori, a renowned religious scholar, says there is no age restriction for marriage in Islam.
        “The 16-year age restriction is in the Pakistan panel code. It has nothing to do with Islamic law,” he said.
        “According to Islamic law, if a girl or boy has reached puberty, they can marry.”
        Mansoori said that marriage in Islam is regulated by certain rules, mainly that children must reach puberty and maturity to get married.
        However, he said, the decision of marriage should be taken in line with the cultural, economic and social conditions of local society.
        “There is no provision of forced marriages in Islam. This is totally unacceptable,” Mansoori insisted.
        He recalled that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for his daughter Fatima’s consent before marrying her to imam Ali.
        “A Woman has the right to accept or reject marriage proposals,” Mansoori averred.
        “Her consent is a prerequisite to the validity of the marital contract, according to the Prophet’s teaching. It follows that if an “arranged marriage” means the marrying of a female without her consent, then such a marriage may be annulled if the female so wishes,” he added.
        “If a person classified as a child is married, when he or she reaches the age of puberty and maturity, then Islam gives him or her the right to choose whether to go on with that marriage or not”, he maintained.
        “It’s not mandatory that the day you reach puberty, you have to get married. No, not at all. This is only permission that now you can marry. Otherwise, this decision should be taken in line with the circumstances being faced by every individual.”

        CUSTOMS

        In 2002, the then Chief Justice Irshad Hassan declared the two notorious customs of Vani and Swara as un-Islamic and expressed concern over the rising number of these cases.
        Vani and Swara customs are found in some parts of Punjab and NWFP respectively under which minor girls of a family are married to men, no matter how old they are, of the rival family to settle down enmities and disputes.
        Recently, two girls were rescued by the intervention of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
        A 17-year-old girl was about to be married to a 77-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl was about to be married to a 55-year-old man to settle a criminal dispute in Mianwali, a southern district of Punjab.
        These marriages were arranged by four murder convicts who saved themselves from the death penalty after reaching an agreement with the aggrieved family to pay a fine and hand over eight young girls as “compensation” to the aggrieved family.
        “Although there are national laws such as the Marriage Restraint Act of 1929 and the Pakistan Penal Code that prohibit the sale and underage marriage of girls, these customary practices will be difficult to prevent unless laws are rigorously implemented and those breaching the contract are dealt with strictly under the law,” said Justice Majida.

        Child marriages are widespread in Yemen.

        CAIRO – Reports about the death of an eight-year-old girl in Yemen of internal injuries on the first night of her marriage to a man more than five times her age has sparked anger over the widespread practice, denied vehemently by Yemeni officials.
        “Her family and her groom could have waited for some time before having this marriage,” a blogger using the moniker “Sad” was quoted by Gulf News.
        “It was not fair at all and the marriage should not have happened even if some tribes believe that it is a good custom.”

        The story was first caught by the Kuwait daily Al-Watan which said that an eight-year old Yemeni school girl, Rawan, has reportedly died from internal injuries on her wedding night in the northern province of Hajja.

        Sparking outrage worldwide, the case prompted calls for immediate and harsh sanctions against whoever was involved in allowing a pre-pubescent eight-years old Yemeni school girl to marry a man in his 40s.
        As the news spread, people took their protests to Twitter, Facebook and their personal blogs, determined to protest child marriage and what they perceived as child abuse.
        Other bloggers offered their prayers for the “bride”, lashing out at the “groom” and the girl’s family.
        Angry Man, a blogger, posted that the man was “an animal who deserved to be punished severely for his crime.”

        “All those who supported such a crime should also be punished,” he said.

        Bu Omar said that he was disturbed by the death report.
        “Rawan’s family members are not humans. They do not deserve to have children,” he said.
        Rights activists have also condemned the report, urging Yemeni authorities to pursue the matter legally.
        Child marriages are widespread in Yemen.
        Estimates show that 52 percent of Yemeni girls are married off before the age of 18 and 14 percent before the age of 15.
        Marriage in Islam is of utmost importance as it is upon the lawful union of a man and a woman that society grows strong and that moral is preserved.
        In Islam it is not permissible for the guardian to compel the one under his guardianship to marry someone she does not desire to marry.
        Rather, it is necessary to seek her consent and permission.

        DENIAL

        As outrage is growing in magnitude, Yemeni officials denied the accident, rejecting the media version of the story.
        “When I heard the rumors, I called the girl’s father. He came with his daughter and denied the marriage and death of his daughter,” said Mosleh Al Azzani, the director of Criminal Investigation in Harradh district where the marriage allegedly took place, Yemen Post reported.
        “I have the photos of the girl and will show it to anyone.”
        Aziz Saleh, a local investigative journalist also confirmed that he personally contacted the authorities and received assurances that media reports had been fabricated.
        “All of them maintained that neither the marriage nor death had taken place,” he said.
        Ahmed al-Qurishi, the head of SEYAJ Organization for Childhood Protection, an NGO which advocates children’s rights also denied the media version of the story.
        “I got in touch with the director of Criminal Investigation, Hajja’s prosecutor and the province’s security chief who all flatly denied the story,” he said.
        Al Qurishi said that his organization conducted its own investigation into the issue by sending some activists to the area.
        “The preliminary results show that the story was untrue,” he said.
        “Some people create these stories to get publicity and attention and aid from international organizations.”
        Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the highest religious body in the Sunni Muslim world, has recently issued a manual on the rights of Muslim children.
        “Marriage in Islam is regulated by certain rules, namely, children must reach puberty and maturity so that they can get married,” the manual said.
        A recent HRW report said the repercussions of child marriages reverberate throughout Yemeni society as it prevents women from completing their education, keeping Yemen in a state of prolonged ignorance.

        MUHAMMAD, 50, MARRIES BABY AISHA AGE 6

        Sahih Bukhari volume 5, book 58, number 234
        Narrated Aisha: the prophet engaged (married) me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, um ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became alright, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some ansari women who said, “best wishes and Allah’s blessing and a good luck.” then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah’s apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age.

        Sahih bukhari volume 8, book 73, number 151
        Narrated ‘Aisha: I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the prophet, and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah’s apostle used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, but the prophet would call them to join and play with me. (the playing with the dolls and similar images is forbidden, but it was allowed for ‘Aisha at that time, as she was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty.) (Fateh-al-bari page 143, vol.13)

        Muhammad’s father in law, Umar bin Khattab, the second rightly guided khalifa, married a child, Umm Kulthum. Umm Khultum was about 9 years old when she was married. Umar was certainly not doing wrong according to Islam, Muhammad once said that even the devil would step aside when he met Umar in an alley. Islam is indeed the true religion for pedophiles, rapists, sadistics etc.
        Sahih Muslim Book 008, Number 3310:
        ‘A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house when I was nine years old.

        Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64
        Narrated ‘Aisha:
        that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).

        Narrated ‘Aisha:
        that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that ‘Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death).” what you know of the Quran (by heart)’
        Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88
        Narrated ‘Ursa:
        The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with ‘Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).
        Some Muslims claim that it was Abu Bakr who approached Muhammad asking him to marry his daughter. This is of course not true and here is the proof.
        Sahih Bukhari 7.18
        Narrated ‘Ursa:
        The Prophet asked Abu Bakr for ‘Aisha’s hand in marriage. Abu Bakr said “But I am your brother.” The Prophet said, “You are my brother in Allah’s religion and His Book, but she (Aisha) is lawful for me to marry.”
        Arabs were a primitive lot with little rules to abide. Yet they had some code of ethics that they honored scrupulously. For example, although they fought all the year round, they abstained from hostilities during certain holy months of the year. They also considered Mecca to be a holy city and did not make war against it. A adopted son’s wife was deemed to be a daughter in law and they would not marry her. Also it was customary that close friends made a pact of brotherhood and considered each other as true brothers. The Prophet disregarded all of these rules anytime they stood between him and his interests or whims.
        Abu Bakr and Muhammad had pledged to each other to be brothers. So according to their customs Ayesha was supposed to be like a niece to the “Holy Prophet” of Mecca. Yet that did not stop him asking Abu Bakr for her hand, even when she was only six years old.
        But this moral relativist “Holy Prophet” of Mecca would use the same excuse to reject a woman he did not like.
        Sahih Bukhari V.7, B62, N. 37
        Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas:
        It was said to the Prophet, “Won’t you marry the daughter of Hamza?” He said, “She is my foster niece (brother’s daughter). ”
        Hamza and Abu Bakr both were the foster brothers of Muhammad. But Ayesha must have been too pretty for the “Holy Prophet” of Mecca to abide by the codes of ethics and custom.
        In the following Hadith he confided to Aisha that he had dreamed of her before soliciting her from her father.
        Sahih Bukhari 9.140
        Narrated ‘Aisha:
        Allah’s Apostle said to me, “You were shown to me twice (in my dream) before I married you. I saw an angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said to him, ‘Uncover (her),’ and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), ‘If this is from Allah, then it must happen.
        Whether Muhammad had actually such a dream or he just said it to please Aisha is not the point. What matters here is that it indicates that Aisha was a baby being “carried” by an angel when the Prophet dreamed of her.
        There are numerous hadithes that explicitly reveal the age of Ayesha at the time of her marriage. Here are some of them.
        Sahih Bukhari 5.236.
        Narrated Hisham’s father:
        Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married ‘Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old.
        Sahih Bukhari 5.234
        Narrated Aisha:

        Sunan Abu-Dawud Book 41, Number 4915, also Number 4916 and Number 4917
        Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu’minin:
        The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) married me when I was seven or six. When we came to Medina, some women came. according to Bishr’s version: Umm Ruman came to me when I was swinging. They took me, made me prepared and decorated me. I was then brought to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him), and he took up cohabitation with me when I was nine. She halted me at the door, and I burst into laughter.
        In the above hadith we read that Aisha was swinging, This is a play of little girls not grown up people. The following Hadith is particularly interesting because it shows that Aisha was so small that was not aware what was going on when the Holy Prophet “surprised” her by going to her.
        Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 90
        Narrated Aisha:
        When the Prophet married me, my mother came to me and made me enter the house (of the Prophet) and nothing surprised me but the coming of Allah’s Apostle to me in the forenoon.

        Must have been quite a surprise! But the following is also interesting because it demonstrates that she was just a kid playing with her dolls. Pay attention to what the interpreter wrote in the parenthesis. (She was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty)

        Sahih Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 151
        Narrated ‘Aisha:
        I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the Prophet, and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah’s Apostle used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, but the Prophet would call them to join and play with me. (The playing with the dolls and similar images is forbidden, but it was allowed for ‘Aisha at that time, as she was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty.) (Fateh-al-Bari page 143, Vol.13)

        Sahih Muslim Book 008, Number 3311
        ‘A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) married her when she was seven years old, and he was taken to his house as a bride when she was nine, and her dolls were with her; and when he (the Holy Prophet) died she was eighteen years old.
        The holy Prophet died when he was 63. So he must have married Aisha when he as 51 and went to her when he was 54.

        Sahih Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 33
        Narrated ‘Aisha:
        I never felt so jealous of any woman as I did of Khadija, though she had died three years before the Prophet married me, and that was because I heard him mentioning her too often, and because his Lord had ordered him to give her the glad tidings that she would have a palace in Paradise, made of Qasab and because he used to slaughter a sheep and distribute its meat among her friends.

        Khadija died in December of 619 AD. That is two years before Hijra. At that time the Prophet was 51-years-old. So in the same year that Khadija died the prophet married Aisha and took her to his home 3 years later, i.e. one year after Hijra. But until she “grew up” he married Umm Salama.
        In another part Aisha claims that as long as she remembers her parents were always Muslims.

        Sahih Bukhari Volume 5, Book 58, Number 245
        Narrated ‘Aisha:
        (the wife of the Prophet) I never remembered my parents believing in any religion other than the true religion (i.e. Islam),
        If Ayesha was older i.e. 16 or 18 as some Muslims claim, she would have remembered the religion of her parents prior to becoming Muslims.

        Now someone may still claim that all these hadithes are lies. People are free to say whatever they want. But truth is clear like the Sun for those who have eyes.
        No sane person would be aroused by a 6-year-old child. Decent people wince at the thought of this shameful act. Yet some Muslims deny them. The question is why so many followers of Muhammad would fabricate so many false hadithes about the age of Aisha, which incidentally confirm each other?

        MUHAMMAD RESERVED BABY AISHA FOR HIMSELF, BECAUSE SHE WAS A VIRGIN & HE WANTED A VIRGIN.

        Sahih al-Bukhari, volume 7, book 62, number 17
        Narrated jabir bin ‘abdullah:
        When I got married, Allah’s apostle said to me, “what type of lady have you married?” I replied, “I have married a matron.” he said, “why, don’t you have a liking for the virgins and for fondling them?” Jabir also said: Allah’s apostle said, “why didn’t you marry a young girl so that you might play with her and she with you?”

        Hence, Muhammad’s comments indicate that his reason for marrying Aisha while a young virgin is so that he could fondle and sexually play with her!

        AISHA WAS NOT THE ONLY BABY GIRL MUHAMMAD FANTASIZED ABOUT

        In the classic history, Sirat Rasul Allah (The Life of Muhammad) by Ibn Ishaq, there is an account in which Muhammad expressed a marital interest in a crawling baby. This event seems to have occurred around the time of the battle of of Badr, when he was about 55 years old. He had married Aisha two years earlier, when he was 53 years of age.
        (Suhayli, ii. 79: in the Riwaya of Yunus i. I. Recorded that the apostle saw her (Ummu’lfadl) when she was a baby crawling before him and said,
        ‘if she grows up and I am still alive I will marry her.’
        but he died before she grew up and sufyan b. Al-aswad b. ‘Abdu’l-asad al-Makhzumi married her and she bore him rizq and lubab… [Ibn Ishaq, The Life of Muhammad, Karachi, p. 311]
        Muhammad saw Um Habiba the daughter of Abbas while she was fatim (age of nursing) and he said, “if she grows up while I am still alive, I will marry her.” (Musnad Ahmad, number 25636)

        MUHAMMAD WOULD BATH & FONDLE AISHA

        Bukhari (6:298) – Muhammad would take a bath with the little Aisha and fondle her.
        Narrated ‘Aisha:
        The prophet and I used to take a bath from a single pot while we were junub. During the menses, he used to order me to put on an izar (dress worn below the waist) and used to fondle me. While in itikaf, he used to bring his head near me and I would wash it while I used to be in my periods (menses).

        MUHAMMAD CONSUMMATED HIS MARRIAGE TO BABY AISHA, WHEN SHE WAS 9

        Sunaan abu Dawud: book 11, number 2161:
        Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu’minin:
        I and the apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) used to lie in one cloth at night while I was menstruating. If anything from me smeared him, he washed the same place (that was smeared), and did not wash beyond it. If anything from him smeared his clothe, he washed the same place and did not wash beyond that, and prayed with it (i.e. The clothe).

        MUHAMMAD WOULD SEXUALLY ABUSE HIS WIVES

        Bukhari (6:300) – Muhammad’s wives had to be available for the prophet’s fondling even when they were having their menstrual period.
        Bukhari volume 1, book 6, number 299:
        Narrated ‘Abdur-rahman bin al-Aswad:
        …(on the authority of his father) ‘Aisha said: “Whenever Allah’s apostle wanted to fondle anyone of us during her periods (menses), he used to order her to put on an izar and start fondling her.” ‘Aisha added, “None of you could control his sexual desires as the prophet could.”

        WOMEN ARE SEXUAL OBJECTS

        Allah promoted this abusive sexual behavior:
        “Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth as ye will” [Koran 2:223]
        Koran (2:223) likens a woman to a field (tilth), to be used by a man as he wills. In this verse, Allah also gives divine sanction for anal sex.
        According to Islam, Muhammad is the perfection of humanity and the prototype of the most wonderful human conduct. He had sex with Aisha at the age of nine, which amounts to rape of a minor. He also left behind an enduring legacy for aged Muslim men to fulfill their carnal desires contrary to natural law and to the life-long devastation of young girls.

        ALLAH PROMOTES PEDOPHILIA

        Quran 65.4 “and those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the ‘iddah (prescribed divorce period), if you have doubts (about their periods), is three months, and for those who have no courses [(i.e. They are still immature) their ‘iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise, except in case of death] . And for those who are pregnant (whether they are divorced or their husbands are dead), their ‘iddah (prescribed period) is until they deliver (their burdens) (give birth) and whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to him, he will make his matter easy for him.”
        Sura (65:4) lays down rules for divorce and sets the prescribed period for divorce. It clearly says, Muslim men can marry (and divorce) little girls who have not yet reached menstruation age. This means that Muslim men were allowed to marry baby girls. This is the eternal word of god. This is an eternal law of Allah. All Muslims must believe in this teaching. Otherwise, they are no longer Muslims but apostates of Islam.

        ALLAH ORDAINS RAPE

        “All married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess.” 4:24
        You can have sex with slaves women captured in war (with whom you may rape or do whatever you like).
        Muhammad established an appalling precedent for abuse of young girls which is continued to be nurtured by the Muslim faithful. For example, Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran gave a fatwa about Quran 65.4:
        “A man can marry a girl younger than nine years of age, even if the girl is still a baby being breastfed. A man, however is prohibited from having intercourse with a girl younger than nine, other sexual acts such as foreplay, rubbing, kissing and sodomy is allowed. A man having intercourse with a girl younger than nine years of age has not committed a crime, but only an infraction, if the girl is not permanently damaged. If the girl, however, is permanently damaged, the man must provide for her all her life. But this girl will not count as one of the man’s four permanent wives. He also is not permitted to marry the girl’s sister.”

        MARRIAGE IN ISLAM: A WHOREHOUSE FOR MEN, A JAILHOUSE FOR WOMEN

        In the Quran, there is no word for marriage. The only word used is nikah, which means ‘having sex’ or ‘sexual intercourse’ in Arabic.

        WIVES IN ISLAM

        According to Quran a wife is some one with whom you have sex with.
        Different types of wives are:
        1. A paid wife with an open ended contract (House wife)
        2. A paid wife with a fixed term contract (Muta wife)
        3. A paid visitation only wife with a visitation contract (Misyar wife)
        4. Slave girl (bought gifted or captured)
        The price paid for vagina is called Mahr. Thus according to Quran a contract wife is like a whore who gets paid for her vagina called Mahr while a slave girl wife is like a whore who does not get paid a Mahr for her vagina.
        Q 4.24: Seek out wives by means of your wealth, and give those with whom ye have cohabited their price.

        APPROACH HER IN ANY WAY YOU WANT

        A wife has no say in the way the husband approaches her for enjoyment.
        Prophet said (Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 62, Number 81): “you are given the right to enjoy the women’s private parts”.
        Q 2.223: Your women are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (have sexual relations in any manners), when or how you will. (trs. Hilali & Khan)

        WIVES CAN BE DUMPED AT WILL

        Like a client can dump a whore at will and pick up another one, the Quran says a husband can dump his wife and get another one.
        Q 4.20. If you want to exchange one wife for another than don’t take back any part of what you paid her.
        Hadiths say that Hasan Bin Ali, Prophet Mohammad’s beloved grand son, who died young, went through more than 70 wives in his short life.
        The husband is like a client of a whore. Once a wife is paid Mahr she is obliged to submit her private parts 24/7 to him.

        WHORES CAN DUMP A CLIENT, MUSLIM WIVES CANNOT DUMP HER HUSBAND

        If a whore changes her mind and does not want sex she can. She can return the money and kick him out. However, in Islam a wife does not have that liberty. Once the Mahr is paid her vagina is his to enjoy. She must submit to him any time he gets an urge.
        Ibn Majah 1854: “Prophet said if he asks her to surrender herself to him for sexual intercourse on a camel’s back, she should not refuse him even on a camel’s saddle.”
        However in our prophet’s case, whenever he had a huge urge (erection) and his child-wife got scared and ran away during foreplay, he had to catch her, bribe her with a new doll and drag her back to bed.

        SAYING NO COSTS ISLAMIC WIVES WHIPPING AND DIVINE CURSING

        If a wife refuses sex to a husband Allah ordered husbands to give her a good whipping.
        Quran 4.34: Scourge (whip) your wife if she does not obey.
        And ordered angels to curse her all night.
        Bukhari 4.54.460: “If a husband calls his wife to his bed for sex and if she , he angels will curse her till morning”.

        A WHIPPED WIFE MUST BE PUT ON AN INJURED LIST

        Once a wife is whipped badly, she cannot lie down and have sex without severe pain, seriously limiting the ways a husband can approach her thus violating aya 2.223. Our prophet told the momins to postpone sex with her.
        Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 132:
        The Prophet said, “When you flog your wife like you flog your slave then postpone the sexual intercourse.”

        VAGINA CONTRACTS
        OPEN-ENDED CONTRACT (REGULAR WIFE)

        A n open ended contract is signed for a negotiated price for an undetermined period. In addition wife gets boarding lodging and clothing. However if the husband decides to dump her, he can break the contract verbally and kick her out (4.20) any time he wants to but he cannot get any money back he paid for her vagina even if he used it for five minutes.
        Q 4.20: if you replace a wife by another, you cannot get any part of Mahr back even if it was a large sum.
        A broken contract cannot be renewed until the her vagina is used by another momin and is then released (halala).
        Q 2.230: And if he has divorced her, then she is not lawful unto him thereafter until she has sex with another husband. And if he has divorced her then she is not lawful unto him thereafter until she has married another husband. Then, if the other husband divorces her, it is no sin on both of them that they reunite.
        On the other hand a wife has no right to break a contract similarly. She can only break it if she can prove him to be impotent or insane in a court of law.

    The Iraqi parliament is considering a law that would legalize marriage for nine-year-old girls. The ‘Personal Status law’ will also restrict women’s rights in matters of divorce and inheritance, making it much easier to men to abuse their spouses.

    The draft law is based on the Jaafari School of Shia law, which was founded by the sixth Shia imam, Jaafar al-Sadiq. It was approved by Iraq’s Council of Ministers in February and must now be approved by the Iraqi parliament.

    If passed, the law will apply to Iraq’s Shia Muslims, the majority of the population. Provisions include prohibiting Muslim men from marrying non-Muslim women, legalizing rape inside marriage by declaring that a husband has a right to sex regardless of consent, and prohibiting women from leaving the house without their husband’s permission.

    The age of marriage will also be lowered to nine years old for girls and 15 for boys. Girls below the age of nine will also be able to marry with their parents’ permission.

    Commenting on the proposed law, Human Rights Watch said:

    “The draft law violates the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), which Iraq ratified in 1986, by giving fewer rights to women and girls on the basis of their gender.
    “It also violates the Convention on Rights of the Child, which Iraq ratified in 1994, by legalizing child marriage, putting girls at risk of forced and early marriage and susceptible to sexual abuse, and not requiring decisions about children in divorce cases to be made in the best interests of the child.
    They added that the law also “ignores article 2 of the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women by legalizing marital rape”

    Their deputy Middle East and North Africa director, Joe Stork, added: “[The] passage of the Jaafari law would be a disastrous and discriminatory step backward for Iraq’s women and girls. This personal status law would only entrench Iraq’s divisions while the government claims to support equal rights for all.”

        Massive inbreeding within the Muslim culture during the last 1.400 years may have done catastrophic damage to their gene pool. The consequences of intermarriage between first cousins often have serious impact on the offspring’s intelligence, sanity, health and on their surroundings

One study analyzed the risk of perinatal death (the child dies during its own birth), infant death (child dies while still infant) and autosomal recessive disorders (serious and often deadly genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy):

        Perinatal mortality in the Pakistani children was 1.5 times higher than that in the Norwegian children, and infant mortality in the Pakistani children was more than double that in the Norwegian children. Deaths due to autosomal recessive disorders were 18 times more common in the Pakistani children. Similarly, deaths due to multiple malformations, which may be part of unrecognized autosomal recessive syndromes, were 10 times more common.

        Another study focused on the relationship between intermarriage and schizophrenia: “The closer the blood relative, the more likely was there to be a schizophrenic illness.” (American Psychiatric Press, 1982 The role of genetic factors in the ethiology of the schizophrenic

        The increased risk of insanity among children of marriages between cousins might explain why immigrant patients are stressing the psychiatric system and are strongly overrepresented among insane criminals: “In Sct.         Limited social skills and understanding, limited ability to manage education and work procedures and painful treatment procedures. The negative cognitive consequences also influence the executive functions. The impairment of concentration and emotional control most often leads to anti-social behavior.

        The economic costs and consequences for society of inbreeding are of course secondary to the reality of human suffering.

        However, inbreeding among Muslims has severe implications for both the Western societies and the Muslim world.

        Expenses related to mentally and physically handicapped Muslim immigrants drains the budget for other public services: “When cousins have children together, they are twice as likely to have a disabled child – it costs municipal funds dearly. Disabled immigrant children costs Danish municipalities millions.         The high expenses on special education for slow learners consumes one third of the budget for the Danish schools. “Immigrant children are clearly overrepresented on Copenhagen’s schools for retarded children and children with physical handicaps. … 51 percent of the children on the three schools in Copenhagen for children with physical and mental handicaps har immigrant back ground and on one of the schools the amount is 70 percent. … These amounts are significantly higher than the share of immigrant children in the municipality, which is 33 percent.         “The Arab world translates about 330 books annually, one fifth of the number that Greece translates. The cumulative total of translated books since the Caliph Maa’moun’s [sic] time (the ninth century) is about 100,000, almost the average that Spain translates in one year.” (Eugene Rogan ”Arab Books and human development”. Index of Censorship, vol. 33, issue 2 April 2004, p. 152-157). “70 percent of the Turkish citizens never read books.”(APA, 23 February 2009 “).

        CONCLUSION

        There is no doubt that the wide spread tradition of first cousin marriages among Muslims has harmed the gene pool among Muslims. Because Muslims’ religious beliefs prohibit marrying non-Muslims and thus prevents them from adding fresh genetic material to their population, the genetic damage done to their gene pool since their prophet allowed first cousin marriages 1,400 years ago are most likely massive. The overwhelming direct and indirect human and societal consequences have been explained above.

        Compassion for the health of future generations should be enough to ban intermarriage among first cousins. The economic and societal consequences do also count. Such a ban would also lessen Muslim immigration to the West because many Muslim families would like to be able to continue their practice of intermarriage in order to live up to cultural and religious traditions and keep wealth and power inside their family.

        A legislative ban on first cousin marriages is a logical and compassionate imperative for both the Muslim world, for EU and our Western national governments.

The inbred group scored significantly lower and had significantly greater variance than the non-inbred group, both on raw scores and on scores statistically adjusted to control for age and socioeconomic status.” (Behaviour Genetics, 1984).

            Another study shows that the risk of having an IQ lower than 70 goes up 400 percent from 1.2 percent in children from normal parents to 6.2 percent in inbred children: “The data indicate that the risk for mental retardation in matings of normal parents increases from 0.012 with random matings to 0.062 for first-cousin parentage.” (Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, 1978 Effect of inbreeding on IQ and mental retardation”). The study A study of possible deleterious effects of consanguinity concludes, that “The occurrence of malignancies, congenital abnormalities, mental retardation and physical handicap was significantly higher in offspring of consanguineous than non-consanguineous marriages.”

            MENTAL & PHYSICAL DISEASES & DEATH

            The risk of stillbirth doubles when parents are first cousins (Jyllands-Posten, 27/2 2009 More stillbirths among immigrants). One study analyzed the risk of perinatal death (the child dies during its own birth), infant death (child dies while still infant) and autosomal recessive disorders (serious and often deadly genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy):

            Perinatal mortality in the Pakistani children was 1.5 times higher than that in the Norwegian children, and infant mortality in the Pakistani children was more than double that in the Norwegian children. Deaths due to autosomal recessive disorders were 18 times more common in the Pakistani children. Similarly, deaths due to multiple malformations, which may be part of unrecognized autosomal recessive syndromes, were 10 times more common.

            There are also evidence suggesting that inbred people has a higher risk of developing mental disorders: “The clinical observations indicated that depression is very high in some communities where the consanguinity of marriages is also high.” (Indian Journal of Psychiatry, 2009 “Relationship between consanguinity and depression in a south Indian population”.

            Another study focused on the relationship between intermarriage and schizophrenia: “The closer the blood relative, the more likely was there to be a schizophrenic illness.” (American Psychiatric Press, 1982 The role of genetic factors in the ethiology of the schizophrenic disorders.

            The increased risk of insanity among children of marriages between cousins might explain why immigrant patients are stressing the psychiatric system and are strongly overrepresented among insane criminals: “In Sct. Hans Hospital, which has the biggest ward for clinically insane criminals in Denmark, more than 40 percent of the patients have an immigrant background.” (Kristeligt Dagblad, 26/6 2007 Ethnic minorities overrepresented among the criminal insane).

            IMPLICATIONS FOR THE WESTERN & MUSLIM WORLD

            The consequences for offspring of consanguineous marriages are unpleasantly clear: Death, low intelligence or even mental retardation, handicaps and diseases often leading to a slow and painful death. Other consequences are:

            Limited social skills and understanding, limited ability to manage education and work procedures and painful treatment procedures. The negative cognitive consequences also influence the executive functions. The impairment of concentration and emotional control most often leads to anti-social behavior.
            The economic costs and consequences for society of inbreeding are of course secondary to the reality of human suffering.

            However, inbreeding among Muslims has severe implications for both the Western societies and the Muslim world.

            Expenses related to mentally and physically handicapped Muslim immigrants drains the budget for other public services: “When cousins have children together, they are twice as likely to have a disabled child – it costs municipal funds dearly. Disabled immigrant children costs Danish municipalities millions. In Copenhagen County alone, the number of disabled children in the overall increase of 100 percent at 10 years. … Meredith Lefelt has contacted 330 families with disabled children in Copenhagen. She estimates that one third of their clients have a foreign cultural background.” (BT, 10/11 2003 Immigrants inbreeding costing one million.

            On top come the expenses for Muslim immigrants who – because of different consequences of being born from blood related parents – are not able to live up to the challenges of our Western work market: Muslim immigrants and their descendants in Europe have a very high rate of unemployment.

            The same goes for Muslims in USA, where the Gallup Institute made a study involving 300.000 people concluding “The majority of Muslims in USA have a lower income, are less educated and have worse jobs than the population as a whole.” (Berlingske Tidende, d. 3. marts 2009: Muslims thrive in USA.

            The cognitive consequences of Muslim inbreeding might explain why non-Western immigrants are more than 300 percent more likely to fail the Danish army’s intelligence test than native Danes: “19.3% of non-Western immigrants are not able to pass the Danish army’s intelligence test. In comparison, only 4.7% of applicants with Danish background do not pass.” (TV 2 Nyhederne, 13/6 2007 Immigrants flunk army test.

            It probably also explains – at least partly – why two thirds of all immigrant school children with Arabic backgrounds are illiterate after 10 years in the Danish school system: “Those who speak Arabic with their parents have an extreme tendency to lack reading abilities – 64 percent are illiterate. … No matter if it concerns reading abilities, mathematics or science, the pattern is the same: The bilingual (largely Muslim) immigrants’ skills are exceedingly poor compared to their Danish classmates.” (Rockwool Foundation Research Unit, May 2007: Ethnic students does not make Danish children worse.

            The high expenses on special education for slow learners consumes one third of the budget for the Danish schools. “Immigrant children are clearly overrepresented on Copenhagen’s schools for retarded children and children with physical handicaps. … 51 percent of the children on the three schools in Copenhagen for children with physical and mental handicaps har immigrant back ground and on one of the schools the amount is 70 percent. … These amounts are significantly higher than the share of immigrant children in the municipality, which is 33 percent. The many handicapped children are a clear evidence that there are many intermarried parents in the immigrant families.” (Jydske Vestkysten, 4/4 2009 Tosprogede i overtal på handicapskoler).

            Our high level of education may also make it harder for inbred students to follow and finish their studies: “Young people with minority backgrounds have a significantly higher dropout rate at secondary schools than youth with a Danish background. For trade school education, the dropout rate among immigrants is 60 percent, twice as high among adolescents with a Danish background….

            There is great variation in educational outcomes when compared with national origin. For example, dropout among young people with Lebanese or Iranian background is far greater than among people of Vietnamese background.” (Center for Knowledge on Integration in Randers, May 2005 “Youth, education and integration“). ”Among immigrant children that are born and raised in Denmark, more than a third has no education. Among native Danes it is less than one fifth that do not get an education. (Statistics Denmark: “Indvandrere i 2007”.

            The negative consequences of inbreeding are also vast for the Muslim world. Inbreeding may thus explain why only nine Muslims ever managed to receive the prestigious Nobel Prize (5 of them won the “Peace Prize” – for peace that turned out not to last for very long).

            The limited ability to understand, appreciate and produce knowledge following a limited IQ is probably also partly the reason why Muslim countries produce 1/10 of the World average when it comes to scientific research: “In 2003, the world average for production of articles per million inhabitants was 137, whereas none of the 47 OIC countries for which there were data achieved production above 107 per million inhabitants. The OIC average was just 13.” (Nature 444, p. 26-27, 1. November 2006 ”Islam and science:

            The data gap”.

            The lack of interest in science and human development in the Muslim World is also clear in the UN Arab Human Development Reports (AHDR). AHDR concludes that there have been fewer books translated into Arabic in the last thousand years than the amount of books translated within the country of Spain every year:

            “The Arab world translates about 330 books annually, one fifth of the number that Greece translates. The cumulative total of translated books since the Caliph Maa’moun’s [sic] time (the ninth century) is about 100,000, almost the average that Spain translates in one year.” (Eugene Rogan ”Arab Books and human development”. Index of Censorship, vol. 33, issue 2 April 2004, p. 152-157). “70 percent of the Turkish citizens never read books.”(APA, 23 February 2009 “).

            CONCLUSION

            There is no doubt that the wide spread tradition of first cousin marriages among Muslims has harmed the gene pool among Muslims. Because Muslims’ religious beliefs prohibit marrying non-Muslims and thus prevents them from adding fresh genetic material to their population, the genetic damage done to their gene pool since their prophet allowed first cousin marriages 1,400 years ago are most likely massive. The overwhelming direct and indirect human and societal consequences have been explained above.
            Compassion for the health of future generations should be enough to ban intermarriage among first cousins. The economic and societal consequences do also count. Such a ban would also lessen Muslim immigration to the West because many Muslim families would like to be able to continue their practice of intermarriage in order to live up to cultural and religious traditions and keep wealth and power inside their family.
            A legislative ban on first cousin marriages is a logical and compassionate imperative for both the Muslim world, for EU and our Western national governments.

      • JIHAD CHEERLEADERS:

        Germany’s “Jihad Cheerleaders,” Running Off To Marry Islamist Terrorists

        BERLIN — Sonya* disappeared during the fall school vacation in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The 16-year-old high school student, the daughter of an Algerian and a German, left her family’s house in Konstanz and never returned.

        Sonya’s parents called the police fearing the worst. Had their daughter been kidnapped? Was she possibly the victim of some other crime? Neither turned out to be the case: Sonya had left Konstanz to fulfill a dream — to become the wife of an Islamic “holy warrior.”

        The young Muslim girl had packed her bag and headed for Stuttgart. At the airport, she presented a phony parental letter of authorization that gave the under-age girl permission to travel alone. Then she boarded the plane and flew to Turkey. From there, Sonya is believed to have headed for Syria.

        Via Facebook, the teenager had been in contact with German Islamists in Syria who urged her to leave school and join the jihad against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Their propaganda apparently radicalized her so much that she decided to migrate to the war-torn area, leaving behind baffled parents who feared for their daughter’s life.

        Sonya’s case confirms a trend that Germany’s inland security forces are currently monitoring. Muslim women and girls are increasingly traveling from Germany to Syria, inspired by the wish to join the “Holy War,” marry a jihadist and become the widow of a martyr.

        According to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), some 300 Islamists have already left Germany. Among them at least 20 women acting on their “own jihadist motivations” — as Germany’s domestic intelligence service describes it — have sought their way to Syria.

        “Jihad cheerleaders”

        At first glance this may seem surprising, because the concept of jihad is pretty much regarded as a male domain. But experts say that has been changing for some time now. Women are increasingly taking on important roles in the radical Islamist scene, particularly in the areas of propaganda, fund-raising, logistics and networking.

        And today’s radicals of the fairer sex often emulate female role models from early Islamic times — Aisha, for example, the Prophet Mohammed’s youngest wife, who is said to have accompanied warriors astride a camel into battle in what is present-day Iraq in 656 AD. Many Islamist women today obviously believe this image of the fighting Muslim woman, the “mujahida” (holy female warrior), is considered worthy of imitation.

        “Islamist women see themselves in the role of supporters,” a BfV agent explains. “They support the men’s fight morally and with propaganda work. They urge them on and sometimes also have a radical effect. They’re almost like jihad cheerleaders.”

        Just how active women are within the radical Islamist scene is clear from the Internet. Within the anonymous forums, blogs and social networks, there’s a kind of “jihadist emancipation” going on. Here, Islamist women discuss, comment and act often as men’s equals. “We’ve noticed that some of the women have a profound knowledge of theology,” the BfV agent confirms. “They frequently know more parts of the Koran and more of the utterances of the prophets than most men. They know exactly what’s allowed and what isn’t.”

        On Facebook and various Islamist Internet forums, meanwhile, several German-language women’s groups have been created. Here, intense discussions revolve around emigration and jihad, and the role of Muslim women. “Nowadays most men aren’t real men. They hold back from practicing jihad and instead sit on the sofa watching TV,” a woman writes on one of these Facebook pages. “The result is that women are increasingly becoming more masculine in that they are taking over the duties of their husbands.”

        Women consider those men who did find their way into battle, and were eventually killed, heroes. “He was a lion of this ummah [community]!” one woman wrote about a terrorist killed in Syria. “Where are the lions to follow in his path? Where are the real men?”

        Perhaps German Islamist women — either at their husbands’ side, or on their own — are making the trip to war zones because there is so little approval and moral support from elsewhere. In accordance with the rules of the Koran, their hope is for a life in a Muslim country as the wife of a “holy warrior.”

        “In conservative Muslim tradition, a woman shouldn’t actually be traveling unaccompanied by a husband or male relative,” the BfV agent explains. “But now there are scholars whose interpretation of the Koran makes it acceptable for a woman to travel alone when jihad is at stake.”

        Targeting women with German passports

        And they are. Just like Sonya from Konstanz, some 20 other Islamist women once living in Germany have gone on jihad — one of them published regular daily entries from Syria on her blog last year.

        In the blog, she was philosophical about the alleged oppression of Muslims in Europe, and about the 9/11 terror attacks. “And now I’m here. In the land of jihad, the land of honor, in Syria,” the anonymous woman wrote. “I am the wife of a mujahid.”

        The woman goes on to write that the feeling of being in Syria is indescribable. “I can finally be free, wear my niqab [face veil] as I want to without being made fun of. If I feel like it, I wear a further two or three niqabs. Nobody can do anything to me here.”

        This is kitschy jihad romanticism addressed to Muslim women who have stayed in Germany. Yet the idea of an ideal Muslim life under Sharia law is appealing to many Muslim women. Some of them openly seek jihadists to marry on the social networks, and online mail-order marriage agencies have started to crop up.

        “Jihad marriages” is how the BfV characterizes these unions. “We’re even seeing marriages being arranged on Facebook,” says one analyst at the inland intelligence service. It’s a phenomenon that worries the intelligence community because there is the possibility that it is a targeted strategy on the part of Islamic terror groups — jihadists with no previous access to Germany acquiring wives with German passports. “Pregnant, the woman may return to Germany. And then at some point there’s a family reunion,” says a BfV agent. “That’s when the husband, a jihadist with fighting experience, turns up in Germany.”

        To avoid such scenarios, the police and intelligence service have adopted a policy of direct communication. If there are indications that somebody is planning a trip to Syria, that person is contacted so that they know they are on the police radar and that their travel is being monitored. And it is made clear to the person that supporting a terrorist organization in Syria is a criminal offence in Germany.

        The tactic is in many cases extremely successful. But the Islamic scene continues to recruit intensively for Syria. Fund-raisers across Germany collect money for Syria, and the BfV agents suspect that much of what’s collected goes to support Syrian rebels.

        There is another such event soon happening at a Berlin mosque — “for women only.”

      • MUHAMMAD MARRIED HIS FIRST COUSIN:
        ZAYNAB BINT JAHSH

        Zaynab bint Jahsh (Arabic: زينب بنت جحش‎) (c.590-641) was a cousin[1] and wife of Muhammad and therefore a Mother of the Believers.[2]

        EARLY LIFE

        Zaynab’s father was Jahsh ibn Riyab, an immigrant from the Asad ibn Khuzayma tribe who had settled in Mecca under the protection of the Umayya clan. Her mother was Umama bint Abdulmuttalib, a member of the Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe and a sister of Muhammad’s father.[3] Hence Zaynab and her five siblings were the first cousins of Muhammad.
        The name of her first husband is not known, but he had died by 622.[4] At that time Zaynab, who had become a Muslim, was among those who accompanied her brother Abdullah on the Hijra to Medina.[5]

        SECOND MARRIAGE

        Around 625 Muhammad proposed to Zaynab that she marry his adopted son, Zayd ibn Harithah. Zayd had been born into the Kalb tribe but as a child he had been kidnapped by slave-traders. He had been sold to a nephew of Khadija bint Khuwaylid, who in her turn had given him as a wedding present to her husband Muhammad. After some years, Muhammad had manumitted Zayd and had adopted him as his son.[6]
        Zaynab, supported by her brother Abdullah, at first refused the proposal on the grounds that, “I am the widow of a Quraysh.”[7] They presumably meant that Zaynab’s social status was too high to allow her to marry an ex-slave. Ibn Kathir asserts that these social differences were precisely the reason why Muhammad wanted to arrange the marriage:

        “The Prophet was well aware that it is a person’s standing in the eyes of Allah that is important, rather than his or her status in the eyes of the people … their marriage would demonstrate that it was not who their ancestors were, but rather their standing in the sight of Allah, that mattered.”[8]

        It has also been suggested that he wanted to establish the legitimacy and right to equal treatment of the adopted.[9] By contrast, Montgomery Watt points out that Zayd was high in Muhammad’s esteem.

        “She can hardly have thought that he was not good enough. She was an ambitious woman, however, and may already have hoped to marry Muhammad; or she may have wanted to marry someone with whom Muhammad did not want his family to be so closely allied.”[10]

        When Muhammad announced a new verse of the Qur’an 33:36, Zaynab acquiesced and married Zayd.[11][12]

        The marriage lasted less than two years.[13] There was conflict between the couple, and eventually Zaynab shut Zayd out of the bedroom.[14] He divorced her in December 626.[15]

        MARRIAGE TO MUHAMMAD

        Muhammad expected criticism if he married Zaynab. Pre-Islamic custom disapproved of marriage between a man and his son’s former wife [16] Arab society would have viewed this union as profoundly wrong; because they considered an adopted son was truly a “son”, for a man to marry his adopted son’s wife – even if she was divorced – was considered incestuous.[17][18] Therefore he “hid in his heart” the idea that he might marry her. This internal conflict is mentioned in the Qur’an 33:37:

        Behold! Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favour: “Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah.” But thou didst hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst fear Allah. Then when Zaid had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary (formality), We joined her in marriage to thee: in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have dissolved with the necessary (formality) (their marriage) with them. And Allah’s command must be fulfilled.

        After this verse was revealed, Muhammad proceeded to reject the existing Arabian norms.[19][20] He married Zaynab as soon as her waiting-period from her divorce was complete, on 27 March 627.[21] Thereafter the legal status of adoption was not recognised under Islam. Zayd reverted to being known by his original name of “Zayd ibn Harithah” instead of “Zayd ibn Muhammad”.[22]

        Critics have pointed to this Sura as an example of a self-serving revelation that reflected the Propet’s desires rather than the will of God.[23][24][25][26][27]

        DEATH

        Zaynab died during the caliphate of Umar bin Khattab in the summer of 641, being the first of Muhammad’s widows to die after him.[28] She was 53 (lunar) years old.[29]

        IBN KATHIR: ZAYNAB BINT JAHSH – IN “WIVES OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD”.

        ZAYNAB bint Jahsh
        Zaynab bint Jahsh, may Allah be pleased with her, married the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in 5 AH, when she was thirty-five and the Prophet was fifty-eight, but only after her pervious marriage, which had been arranged by the Prophet himself, had ended in divorce. As with all the marriages of the Prophet Muhammad, there was much for all the Muslims to learn from it. Zaynab bint Jahsh was the Prophet Muhammad’s cousin, her mother Umayma being the daughter of Abdul Muttalib, Muhammad’s grandfather, who, while he was alive, had ensured the safety of his grandson, thanks to his position as one of the most respected leaders of the Quraish. Thus Zaynab bint Jahsh came from one of the noblest families of the Quraish, and everyone expected her to eventually marry a man with the same high social status.

        The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was well aware that it is a person’s standing in the eyes of Allah that is important, rather than his or her status in the eyes of the people. He wanted her to marry a young man called Zayd ibn Harith, whose background was very different to that of Zaynab bint Jahsh. Zayd had been taken prisoner while he was still a child during one of the inter-tribal wars that had been common before the coming of Islam. He had been sold as a slave to a nephew of Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) who had given Zayd to her as a gift. In turn, Khadijah had given him to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the days before the revelation of the Qur’an had begun, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had given him his freedom and adopted him as his own son, at the age of eight.

        The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had watched both Zayd and Zaynab grow up, and thought they would make a good couple, and that their marriage would demonstrate that it was not who their ancestors were, but rather their standing in the sight of Allah, that mattered. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked for her hand on behalf of Zayd, Zaynab had her family were shocked at the idea of her marrying a man who in their eyes was only a freed slave. Moreover, Zaynab had wanted to marry the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself and in fact he had already been asked by her family whether or not he would like to marry her. At first both she and her brother refused, but then the following ayat was revealed:

        It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger, to have any say in their decision; and whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has most clearly gone astray. (Quran 33:36)

        When Zayd, who had also had misgivings about the proposed match, and Zaynab realized that there was no difference between what the Prophet wanted and what Allah wanted, they both agreed to the marriage, the Prophet providing a handsome dowry for Zaynab on Zayd’s behalf. The marriage, however, was not a success. Although both Zaynab and Zayd were the best of people, who loved Allah and His Messenger, they were very different and in the end they could not overcome their incompatibility. Zayd asked the Prophet’s permission to divorce Zaynab more than once, and although he was counseled to hold onto his wife and to fear Allah, in the end the divorce took place. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then was ordered by Allah to marry Zaynab bint Jahsh, while he did in 5 AH, when he was fifty-eight years old, and she was thirty-five years old. In doing so, he demonstrated beyond doubt that in Islam an adopted son is not regarded in the same light as a natural son, and that although a father may never marry a woman whom his natural son has married and then divorced, the father of an adopted son is permitted to marry a woman who was once, but is no longer, married to that adopted son. Furthermore, by marrying Zaynab, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also confirmed that it is permissible for cousins to marry, and , at the same time, Zaynab was given her heart’s desire to be married to the Best of Creation.

        The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) received the command to marry Zaynab while he was with A’isha. After he had received the revelation, he smiled and said, “Who will go and give Zaynab the good news?” and he recited the ayat that he had received. Some say that it was Zayd himself who told her the good news. When Zaynab heard the news, she stopped what she was doing and prayed to thank Allah. Afterwards, she was fond of pointing out that her marriage had been arranged by Allah. It was at this point that the Prophet changed her name from Barra to Zaynab.

        Zaynab’s wedding feast was also the occasion for another ayat of Qur’an to be sent down. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sacrificed a sheep and then commanded his servant, Anas, to invite the people to partake of it. After they had eaten, two men remained there after the meal chatting. The Messenger of Allah went out and said goodnight to his other wives and then came back and the two men were still there chatting. It was very hard on the Prophet who did not like to criticize people directly, and so he waited patiently until they left. Then Allah sent down the following ayat which is known as “The Ayat of Hijab”:

        O you who believe! Do not go into the Prophet’s rooms except after being given permission to come and eat, not waiting for the food to be prepared, However, when you are called, then go in and when you have eaten, then disperse, and do not remain wanting to chat together. If you do that, it causes injury to the Prophet though he is too reticent to tell you. But Allah is not reticent with the truth. When you ask his wives for something, ask them from behind a screen. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. It is not for you to cause injury to the Messenger of Allah nor ever to marry his wives after him. TO do that would be something dreadful in the sight of Allah. Whether you make something known or conceal it, Allah has knowledge of all things. There is no blame on them regarding their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their brothers’ s sons or their sisters’ s sons or their women or those their right hands own. Have fear of Allah. Allah is witness over everything. Allah and His angels pray blessings of the Prophet. O you who believe! Pray blessings on him and ask for peace for him. (Quran 33:53-56)

        Zaynab was a woman who was constantly immersed in the worship of Allah. It is related by Anas ibn Malik that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered the mosque and found a rope hanging down between two of the pillars, and so he said, “What is this?” He was told, “It is for Zaynab. She prays, and when she loses concentration or feels tired, she holds onto it.” At this time the Prophet said, “Untie it. Pray as long as you feel fresh, but when you lose concentration or become tired, you should stop.”

        Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for six years, and lived for another nine years after his death, dying at the age of fifty, in 20 AH, and thus fulfilling the Prophet’s indication that she would be the first of his wives to die aftehim. Zaynab bint Jahsh, like Zaynab bint Khuzayma before her, was very generous to the poor, and indeed the Prophet said, when speaking of her to his other wives, “She is the most generous among you.”

        It has been related by A’isha that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once said to his wives, “The one who has the longest hands among you will meet me again the soonest.” A’isha added, “They use to measure each other’s hands to see whose as longest, and it was the hand of Zaynab that was the longest, because she used to work by hand and give away (what she earned) in charity.” The Messenger of Allah said to Umar, “Zaynab bint Jahsh is one who is full of prayer.” A man said, “Messenger of Allah, what is that?” He said, “The one who is humble and earnest in prayer.” A’isha also said that Zaynab, “I have never seen a woman so pure as Zaynab, so God-fearing, so truthful, so attentive to family ties, so generous, so self-sacrificing in everyday life, so charitable, and thus so close to Allah, the Exalted.”
        Several years after the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had died, when Umar was the khalif, great wealth came to the Muslims as a result of their victories in fighting the Persians. The immense treasures of Chosroes, the Persian Emperor, fell into their hands, and when Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent Zaynab a pile of gold as her share of the treasure, she called her maid servant and told her to take a handful of it to so-and-so, naming one of the poor people of Medina. One after another, she named all the poor people whom she knew, until they had all received a share of the treasure. Then she told her maidservant to see what was left. All that remained of the large pile of gold was eighty dinars, and this she accepted as her share, thanking Allah for it; but, because she believed so much money was a temptation, she asked Allah that she would never witness such a large distribution of wealth again.
        By the time a year had passed, when Umar again came to distribute money amongst those wives of the Prophet who were still alive, her prayer had been granted for she had already passed away, may Allah be pleased with her.

        According to the Western culture, an adopted son becomes an actual son. But this law does not exist in Islam.
        Let us look at Noble Verses 33:4-5 “Allah has not Made for any man two hearts in his (one) body: nor has He made your wives whom ye divorce by Zihar your mothers: nor has He Made your adopted sons your sons. Such is (only) your (manner of) speech by your mouths. But Allah Tells (you) the Truth, and He Shows the (right) Way.”
        Zihar is the divorce done by pagan Arabs before Islam, where a man would say to his wife you are to me like my mother. The man could marry another woman, where the woman couldn’t marry another man, which was very degrading to all women.
        Zayd’s, the Prophet’s alleged “adopted son” by the haters of Islam, wife, was the one who wanted to divorce him and marry the Prophet. She was not forced into the marriage by any means. Let us look at Noble Verse 58:1 “God has indeed heard (and accepted) the statement of the woman who pleads with thee concerning her husband and carries her complaint (in prayer) to God: and God (always) hears the arguments between both sides among you: for God hears and sees (all things).”
        Let us look at Noble Verse 33:37 “Behold! thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favour: ‘Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah.’ But thou didst hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst fear Allah. Then Zayd had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary (formality), we joined her in marriage to thee: In order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the believers in (the matter) of marriage with the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have dissolved with the necessary (formality) (their marriage) with them. And Allah’s command must be fulfilled.”
        According to Islamic laws, where from the above Noble Verses do we see our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him marrying his daughter in law?!
        According to Noble Verses 33:4-5 above, we clearly see that an adopted son is NOT in the place of an actual son. An adopted son is a son from a stranger person. The foster father would still have to treat the adopted son with kindness and fulfill all of his needs. But the adopted son can never be an actual son.
        According to Noble Verse 33:37 above, we clearly see that Allah Almighty allowed for the Muslims to marry the former wives of their adopted sons!.
        If a man called another’s son “his son”, it might create complications with natural and normal relationships if taken too literally. The truth is the truth and can not be altered by men’s adopting “sons”. “Adoption” in the technical sense is not allowed in Muslim Law. Those who have been “wives of your sons proceeding from your loins” are within the Prohibited Degrees of marriage, but this does not apply to “adopted” sons; “Prohibited to you (for marriage) are your mothers, daughters, sisters; father’s sisters, mother’s sisters; brother’s daughters, sister’s daughters; foster-mothers (who gave you suck), foster-sisters; your wives’ mothers; your step-daughters under your guardianship, born of your wives to whom ye have gone in no prohibition if ye have not gone in (those who have been) wives of your sons proceeding from your loins; and two sisters in wedlock at one and the same time, except for what is past for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (The Noble Quran, 4:23)”

        Prophet: “Hafsa, calm down. I will tell you something. If you keep this incident a secret between you and me and don’t tell any one, I take an oath that I will never touch Maria again. And Please cool down first . Go have a drink of cold water….”
        Hafsa: “ O.K., I have to go pee also…”

        AYA 66.1 AND 66.2 REVEALED

        Hafsa returned after a short while and found her husband again screwing with Maria.
        Hafsa: “Rasulullah, You have a short memory. You had just said you will not touch her again”.
        Prophet: “Yes I did, but Allah revealed aya 66.1 after you left, it says
        “Mohammed why do you forbid yourself what Allah has made lawful to you just to please your wife”

        Hafsa: “What about the oath you took.”
        Prophet: “Allah dissolved my oath” by aya 66.2 which says
        “Allah has ordained for you the dissolution of your oath. And Allah is your Maula.”

        ALLAH SPIED FOR THE PROPHET

        Next morning when Prophet returned from Fajr prayer, his wives gave him dirty looks and a silent treatment instead of happily greeting him like every day… As smart as our prophet was, he knew right away that Hafsa, had ratted and had divulged last night’s incident to all other wives who incidentally hated Maria for her beauty and the prophet’s fondness for her. Prophet was pissed off and rushed into Hafsa’s room:
        “When I told you to keep last night’s incident with Maria a secret to yourself, I trusted you; why did you spread it”?
        Hafsa: “Who informed you that I spread it”?
        Prophet: “Allah informed me” (“The prophet had trusted one of his wives with a certain incident, then she spread it, and GOD let him know about it. He then told his wife, she asked him, “Who informed you of this?” He said, “I was informed by Allah” (Q 66.3)
        Hafsa started trembling with fear. She had no idea Allah spied for the prophet and told tales to him about his wives private talks and gossips.

        MISBEHAVING WIVES WILL BURN IN HELL FIRE

        An angry Prophet then gathered all his resentful wives and conveyed the following chilling message from Allah to them which had just arrived.
        Quran 66.5: “If Mohammed divorced you all, Allah will give him in exchange wives better than you who are submissive and devout”.
        That message was a death sentence to the scared wives. A divorce meant starving to death since no body was allowed to marry Prophet’s wife according to an earlier aya…
        The Prophet continued:
        Quran 66.10-11: “On one hand wives of Allah’s prophets Noah and Lut misbehaved with their husbands and they were put in hell fire. On the other hand wife of the kafir Pharoah was well behaved and she was awarded paradise”..

        ONE MONTH BREAK EXCLUSIVELY WITH MARIA

        All the wives started wailing. Starving to death was one thing ; burning in hellfire for ever was something else. They grabbed his feet and begged him for mercy. The merciful prophet then took pity on them and decided to apply abstention clause of aya 4.34 (abstaining from sex with wives as a disciplinary action ) He could have divorced them like Allah suggested or beaten them under scouging clause of aya 4.34 .
        The Koran (Quran) allows men to beat their wifes, and here are the rules. After watching this, you will no longer be able to claim ignorance of Islam.

        QURAN 4:34 – “Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them. Surely God is high, supreme.”
        He stayed away from all his wives for a month* and slept exclusively with Maria to humiliate them further and make them jealous.

        “The Prophet did not go to his wives because of the secret which Hafsa had disclosed to ‘Aisha, and he said that he would not go to his wives for one month as he was angry with them when Allah admonished him for his oath that he would not approach Maria.”
        Allah also decided to pitch-in in the misery of Prophet’s wives by making Maria pregnant with a baby boy (Ibrahim), something Mo desired most and which could not be delivered by any of the nine resident wives.
        NOTE:
        Several embarrassed sahabis made false hadiths later about this sura to protect the “good” name of Mohammed. They fabricated the story and said it was honey and not Maria which prophet took an oath to abstain from. That is ridiculous and does not make any sense.
        Here is what Ibn Saad wrote in “Tabaqat”
        “Waqidi has informed us that Abu Bakr has narrated that the messenger of Allah (PBUH) had sexual intercourse with Maria in the house of Hafsa.. She told the prophet, O Messenger of Allah, do you do this in my house and during my turn? The messenger said, control yourself and let me go because I make her haram to me. Hafsa said, I do not accept, unless you swear for me. That Hazrat (his holiness) said, by Allah I will not contact her again.”

        3When the prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his consorts and she then divulged it and Allah made it known to him, he confirmed part thereof and repudiated a part. Then when he told her thereof she said “Who told you this?” He said “He told me who knows and is well acquainted with all things.”

        (1). The following Hadith is what this verse refers to: Sahih Al-Bukhari’s Hadith 7.193
        Narrated by Aisha: Allah’s Apostle was fond of honey and sweet edible things and (it was his habit) that after finishing the ‘Asr prayer he would visit his wives and stay with one of them at that time. Once he went to Hafsa, the daughter of ‘Umar and stayed with her more than usual. I got jealous and asked the reason for that. I was told that a lady of her folk had given her a skin filled with honey as a present, and that she made a syrup from it and gave it to the Prophet to drink (and that was the reason for the delay).
        I said, “By Allah we will play a trick on him (to prevent him from doing so).” So I said to Sauda bint Zam’a “The Prophet will approach you, and when he comes near you, say: ‘Have you taken Maghafir (a bad-smelling gum)?’ He will say, ‘No.’ Then say to him: ‘Then what is this bad smell which I smell from you?’

        He will say to you, ‘Hafsa made me drink honey syrup.’ Then say: Perhaps the bees of that honey had sucked the juice of the tree of Al-’Urfut.’ I shall also say the same. O you, Safiyya, say the same.” Later Sauda said, “By Allah, as soon as he (the Prophet ) stood at the door, I was about to say to him what you had ordered me to say because I was afraid of you.” So when the Prophet came near Sauda, she said to him, “O Allah’s Apostle! Have you taken Maghafir?” He said, “No.” She said, “Then what is this bad smell which I detect on you?” He said, “Hafsa made me drink honey syrup.” She said, “Perhaps its bees had sucked the juice of Al-’Urfut tree.” When he came to me, I also said the same, and when he went to Safiyya, she also said the same. And when the Prophet again went to Hafsa, she said, ‘O Allah’s Apostle! Shall I give you more of that drink?” He said, “I am not in need of it.” Sauda said, “By Allah, we deprived him (of it).” I said to her, “Keep quiet.”
        Maulana Ali points to a different story regarding Mary the Copt, who was an Egyptian wife of the prophet and because of that was looked down upon and for this reason the wives of the prophet conspired against him to at least prevent him from going to Mary’s house. Muhammad gave in to the trickery of his wives and this verse speaks about what he did which he should not have done for the fear of his wives.

        (2). Once an oath is given, one is bound to keep the words of the oath, but here Allah is making an exception for men, not women. The Bible says that God does not favor those who make foolish oaths; Ecclesiastes 5:4: “When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.” In comparison to the Qur’an, God will not tolerate men from taking an oath and getting out of the oath.

        Quran sura 66:

        4 If you two turn in repentance to Him, your hearts are indeed so inclined; but if you back up each other against him, truly, Allah is his protector and Gabriel and every righteous one among those who believe, and furthermore, the angels will back him up.

        5It may be if he divorced you, that Allah will give him in exchange consorts better than you who submit, who believe, who are devout, who turn to Allah in repentance, who worship, who travel, and fast, previously married or virgins.

        6O you who believe! save yourselves and your families from a fire whose fuel is men and stones over which are angels stern and severe who flinch not from executing the commands they receive from Allah but do what they are commanded.

        7“O you unbelievers! make no excuses this day! You are being but requited for all that you did!”

        😯 you who believe! turn to Allah with sincere repentance: in the hope that your Lord will remove from you your ills and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow, the day that Allah will not permit to be humiliated the prophet and those who believe with him. Their light will run forward before them and by their right hands while they say “Our Lord! perfect our light for us and grant us forgiveness; for You have power over all things.”

        9O prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be firm against them. Their abode is hell, an evil refuge indeed. (3)

        10Allah sets forth for an example to the unbelievers, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lut: they were under two of Our righteous servants, but they were false to their and they profited nothing before Allah on their account but were told: “Enter you the fire along with others that enter!”(4)

        Notes:

        (3). If Muhammad is the Holy Spirit who was to come, why is he being told to strive (fight) against unbelievers and the hypocrites instead of convicting them of sin, righteousness and judgment. Jesus said that that will be the work of the Holy Spirit when he comes; John 16:8: “When he comes, he will convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.” Muhammad’s commission was to be firm against the non-Muslims, something not shared by the Holy Spirit.

        (4). The wife of Lot became a pillar of salt, not so the wife of Noah. There is no Biblical support for this claim by Allah.

        QURAN 66:

        11And Allah sets forth as an example to those who believe, the wife of Pharaoh: Behold she said: “O my Lord! build for me in nearness to You a mansion in the garden and save me from Pharaoh and his doings and save me from those that do wrong”;

        12And Mary the daughter of Imran who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into her of Our spirit; and she testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and of His revelations and was one of the devout servants.(5)

        Note:
        (5). Mary, the daughter of Ammran, was the sister of Moses and Aaron. She is completely different from Mary, the mother of Jesus, whom this verse is pointing to.

        In Pakistan, the numbers approach 70%. Even in England , more than half of Pakistani immigrants are married to their first cousins, and in Denmark the number of inbred Pakistani immigrants is around 40%. The numbers are equally devastating in other important Muslim countries: 67% in Saudi Arabia , 64% in Jordan and Kuwait , 63% in Sudan , 60% in Iraq , and 54% in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar .
        According to the BBC, this Pakistani, Muslim-inspired inbreeding is thought to explain the probability that a British Pakistani family is more than 13 times as likely to have children with recessive genetic disorders. While Pakistanis are responsible for three percent of the births in the UK , they account for 33% of children with genetic birth defects.

        Lowered intellectual capacity is another devastating consequence of Muslim marriage patterns. According to Sennels, research shows that children of consanguinous marriages lose 10-16 points off their IQ and that social abilities develop much slower in inbred babies. The risk of having an IQ lower than 70, the official demarcation for being classified as retarded, increases by an astonishing 400 percent among children of cousin marriages.

        In Denmark , non-Western immigrants are more than 300 percent more likely to fail the intelligence test required for entrance into the Danish army. Sennels says that the ability to enjoy and produce knowledge and abstract thinking is simply lower in the Islamic world. He points out that the Arab world translates just 330 books every year, about 20% of what Greece alone does. In the last 1,200 years years of Islam, just 100,000 books have been translated into Arabic, about what Spain does in a single year. Seven out of 10 Turks have never even read a book.

        Only nine Muslims have every won the Nobel Prize, and five of those were for the Peace Prize. According to Nature magazine, Muslim countries produce just 10 percent of the world average when it comes to scientific research (measured by articles per million inhabitants).

        Mental illness is also a product. The closer the blood relative, the higher the risk of schizophrenic illness. The increased risk of insanity may explain why more than 40% of the patients in Denmark’s biggest ward for clinically insane criminals have an immigrant background.
        The U.S. is not immune. According to Sennels, One study based on 300,000 Americans shows that the majority of Muslims in the USA have a lower income, are less educated, and have worse jobs than the population as a whole.

There was one poor girl who had to have an oxygen tank on her back and breathe from a hole in the front of her neck.

        INCEST IN ISLAM

        Introduction

        The Oxford Dictionary defines incest as sexual intercourse of near relations.

        Elaborating on this Encyclopaedia Britannica (CD ROM version) writes:

        Generally speaking, the closer the genetic relationship between two people, the stronger and more highly charged is the taboo prohibiting or discouraging sexual relations between them. Thus, sexual intercourse between a father and daughter, a mother and son, or a brother and sister is almost universally forbidden. Sexual relations between an uncle and niece or between an aunt and nephew are also generally taboo, and relations between first cousins are prohibited as well in some societies.

        On the harmful effect of incestuous relation Encyclopaedia Britannica also writes:
        Highly inbred populations have diminished reproductive success and become gene pools for hereditary disorders.

        Incest in the Qur’an: Marriage between father and his biological daughter

        Muslims will find it hard to believe that Allah in the Qur’an has violated the universal condemnation of incest. Let us read verse 4:23 24 which lists the categories of women that a Muslim man may not marry.

        One might think that verse 4:23 specifically prohibits a man from marrying (that is, to have sex) with his biological daughter. However, this may not be so. Hashim Kamali, one of the most eminent scholars of Islamic Jurisprudence and currently the Professor of Islamic Law and Jurisprudence at International Islamic University Malaysia writes:

        An example of the zanni in the Qur’an is the text which reads, ‘prohibited to you are your mothers and your daughters’ (al Nisa’ 4:23). The text is definitive in regard to the prohibition of marriage with one’s mother and daughter and there is no disagreement on this point. However, the word banatakum (‘your daughters’) could be taken for its literal meaning, which would be a female child born to a person either through marriage or through zina, or for its juridical meaning. In the latter sense ‘banatukum’ can only mean a legitimate daughter.

        The jurists are in disagreement as to which of these meanings should be read into text. The Hanafis have upheld the first of the two meanings and have ruled on the prohibition of marriage to one’s illegitimate daughter, whereas the Shafis have upheld the second. According to this interpretation, marriage with one’s illegitimate daughter is not forbidden as the text only refers to a daughter through marriage. It would follow from this that the illegitimate daughter has no right to inheritance, and the rules of guardianship and custody would not apply to her. (Hashim Kamali, pp. 21 23)

        Note: The Qur’an scholars divide the Qur’anic verses into two classes: qati—definitive, no speculation and zanni—speculative. Even the eminent Sharia expert Professor Hashim Kamali admits that the Qur’an is ambiguous. (Hashim Kamali, p. 33.)

        This will be a bombshell to the Muslims. Hashim Kamali testifies that at least one sect of Islam (that is, Shafi) allows a Muslim man to marry his biological daughter and have sex with her if the daughter has been born illegitimate.

        We may wonder how a Muslim man could have an illegitimate daughter since in Islam all sex out of marriage, except sex with one’s sex-slaves, is forbidden. Let us ponder on the following situations:
        A Muslim unmarried man has sex with a Muslim unmarried woman.

        The woman gives birth to a daughter. Because of their Zina, both of them receive one hundred lashes. The punishment over, they depart—going their own way, or they decide to marry, but the daughter remains illegitimate. When the daughter turns eight or ten the biological father marries his daughter.

        This incestuous marriage is allowed by the Shafi rule, according to professor Kamali. If they are Hanafi or other sect the father may not marry the illegitimate daughter.

        A Muslim unmarried man (of Shafii sect) has sex with a Kafir woman. She gives birth to a daughter. The father receives the Islamic lashing. The woman may go scot free depending on which Islamic country she resides, because in some Islamic countries non Muslims are exempt from Sharia laws. The illegitimate daughter lives with her mother. When the illegitimate daughter turns eight or more she becomes halal for her biological father. He marries his biological daughter.

        A Muslim unmarried man commits adultery with a married Muslim woman. She becomes pregnant. As per Sharia law the man receives one hundred lashes and the woman is sentenced to be stoned to death. However, her stoning is postponed until she gives birth to her child and weans the baby of breastfeeding. This condemned woman gives birth to a daughter. At age two the baby girl is taken away from her mother. Then the mother is stoned to death. The hapless child may be sheltered in a foster home or even live with her biological father. When the daughter turns eight her biological father marries her.

        Let us ponder on what might happen if a Hanafi unmarried man has illicit sex with a Shafi married woman
        Presumably, Malaysia follows Shafi, Bangladesh follows Hanafi.

        Malaysian married Muslim woman + Bangladesh unmarried man = Zina and adultery.

        Malaysia’s religious police catch them in action. Both of them receive Islamic punishment as per Shafi law. The woman may not receive stoning–as it is not enforced in Malaysia.

        The woman gives birth to a girl–this is the illegitimate daughter to the man. Let us call her daughter A.

        What about the woman? Will the daughter be illegitimate to the mother? As per Islamic rule, yes. Later, the woman’s husband divorces her. She moves on, along with her illegitimate daughter.

        The sex offender man marries the woman. May be, the wife gives birth to another daughter–this time legitimate. Call this daughter B.
        Now, as per Islamic Law can we say A and B are sisters? Nope.

        The entire family lives under one roof.

        When A, the illegitimate daughter, turns 8 or more, the biological father marries her.
        He now has two wives–his sex partner wife + his own illegitimate daughter. That is, the man is simultaneously married to the mother and the daughter.

        So, Islamically, he may have sex with his biological daughter and her mother—perfectly legal as per Shafi rule.

        I am not sure if this incidence happened, say in Bangladesh or India or Pakistan, what would happen as these countries follow Hanafi Muslim laws.
        We must remember when a Muslim lives in Malaysia whether he is a Malaysian citizen or not he must abide by the Islamic Sharia of Malaysia which is largely Shafi.

        SEX BETWEEN SONS & THEIR FATHER’S CONCUBINES

        Stepping further on verse 4:23 24, it may even be Islamically possible for a son to have sexual intercourse with his father’s concubines or father’s sex partners. In this case the mother is not a biological mother, but still a mother, no matter what—just as step mother.

        On the restrictions women who can be married as depicted in 4:23-24 Maulana Maududi writes:
        The word ‘mother’ applies to one’s step-mother as well as to one’s real mother. Hence the prohibition extends to both. This injunction also includes prohibition of the grandmother, both paternal and maternal. There is disagreement on whether a woman with whom a father has had an unlawful sexual relationship is prohibited to his son or not. There are some among the early authorities who do not believe in such prohibition. But there are others who go so far as to say that a woman whom a father has touched with sexual desire becomes prohibited to the son. (Maududi 4/34.)

        INCESTUOUS MARRIAGES AMONG CLOSE BLOOD RELATIONS

        Here is another verse from the Qur’an that may suggest that incestuous marriages are permissible in Islam.

        Eminent tafsir writer Jalalyn writes:

        And it is He who created human beings from water (sperm) and then gave them relations by blood and marriage—because men and women marry to seek progeny. Your Lord is All Powerful, possessing the power to do whatever He wills. (Tafsir Jalalyn, Tr. Aisha Bewley, p. 781).

        MARRIAGE BETWEEN FATHER-IN-LAW & WIFE OF AN ADOPTED SON

        In the Arab society in which Muhammad lived the tradition of adoption was noble and sanctified. Their adopted sons were like their own biological sons and the wives of adopted sons were like their own daughter-in-laws.

        Zayd bin Haritha was Muhammad’s adopted son. Muhammad even got Zayd married to his (Muhammad’s) cousin sister Zaynab bt. Jahsh (Tabari, p. ix.134). But later, when Muhammad saw her beauty and sex appeal, he became passionate to have sex with her.

        In the Arab society this kind of marriage between father-in-law and daughter-in-law, whether of adopted son or not, was considered incestuous.

        But Muhammad did not care. He sought Allah’s help, and Allah promptly sent down appropriate verses to let Muhammad satisfy his desire. Zaynab became Muhammad’s eighth wife. Accordingly, Allah also changed the adoption rule—He permitted Muslims to marry their adopted sons’ wives after they obtain divorce from their husbands (33:37). Even Tabari and Waqidi admit that Muhammad married his cousin sister Zaynab bt Jahsh out of last (Tabari, p. viii. xii). Here is what the eminent Islamic historian Tabari writes about this ‘incestuous’ marriage of Muhammad.

        Muhammad had uncontrolled fascination for Zaynab bt. Jahsh

        The Messenger of God came to the house of Zayd b. Harithah. (Zayd was always called Zayd b. Muhammad.) Perhaps the Messenger of God missed him at that moment, so as to ask, “Where is Zayd?” He came to his residence to look for him but did not find him. Zaynab bt. Jahsh, Zayd’s wife, rose to look for him but did not find him. Because she was dressed only in a shift, the Messenger of God turned away from her. She said: “He is not here, Messenger of God. Come in, you are as dear to me as my father and mother!” The Messenger of God refused to enter. Zaynab had dressed in haste where she was told “the Messenger of God is at the door.” She jumped up in haste and excited the admiration of the Messenger of God, so that he turned away murmuring something that could scarcely be understood. However, he did say overtly: “Glory be to God the Almighty! Glory be to God, who causes hearts to turn!” (Tabari, p. viii.2)
        While the Messenger of God was talking with A’ishah, a fainting overcame him. When he was released from it, he smiled and said, “Who will go to Zaynab to tell her the good news, saying that God has married her to me?” Then the Messenger of God recited: “And when you said unto him on whom God has conferred favor and you have conferred favor, “Keep your wife to yourself…” (Quran 33:37)—and the entire passage.         INBREEDING: COUSIN MARRIAGES

        In Islam cousin marriage is quite popular and widely acceptable. Cousin marriages, especially among first cousins, are a potentially harmful practice because the children born out of such marriages suffer from many genetic disorders.         Let us find out why Muslims are more likely to indulge in first cousin marriage than other communities.

        YUSUFALI: O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
        This verse unabashedly permitted Muhammad to have sex with his first cousin sisters even without marrying them. Why Allah permitted Muhammad to indulge in such a reckless incestuous relationship? For the answer, we need to know the context of this verse. A hadis in Tirmidhi (print version) tells us this:
        Muhammad proposed Umm Hani, his cousin sister, to marry him. She declined. So Allah revealed that Muhammad could have sex with his cousin sisters who had migrated to Medina without marrying them (33:50). Umm Hani said though she was Muhammad’s cousin sister, Muhammad could not have sex with her as she did not migrate to Medina. She only embraced Islam after Muhammad had conquered Mecca.         Umm Hani bint Abu Talib said: “The Messenger of Allah proposed to me, but I asked him to excuse me, so he did excuse me. Then Allah [Most High] revealed: “Verily We have made lawful to you your wives, to whom you have paid their due, and those whom your right hands possess—whom Allah has given to you, and the daughters of your paternal uncles, and the daughters paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles, and the daughters of your maternal aunts, who migrated with you, and a believing woman, if she offers herself to the Prophet… (33:50). She said: “So I was not lawful for him because I did not perform Hijrah; I was one of the Tulaqa.(Daif)
        [Abu ‘Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan [Sahih] we do not know of it except from this route as a narration of As Suddi
        [In a footnote the translator describes the Tulaqa are those who accepted Islam after the conquest of Makkah.]

        The readers should note that Abu ‘Eisa is Imam Tirmidhi’s kunya (that is, father of ‘Eisa). According to Imam Tirmidhi this Hadis is Hasan, meaning it is a reliable Hadis.

        Umm Hani was the daughter of Abu Taleb, Muhammad’s uncle. AbuTaleb brought up Muhammad in his home. Muhammad fell deeply in love with Umm Hani, but was greatly aggrieved when he asked to marry her but Abu Taleb refused. This meant Abu Taleb, a Meccan pagan, did not like first cousin marriage. But, as demonstrated in the above verse, Allah found a way to satisfy Muhammad’s desire to have sex with his old flame.

        The truth was: although Allah said in the verse that those of Muhammad’s first cousin sisters who had migrated with him to Medina were eligible to have sex with him, Muhammad never followed Allah’s instruction. The great Islamic scholar Maulana Maududi writes:

        The ladies from among his first cousins, who emigrated along with him. The words “who emigrated with you” do not mean that they accompanied the Holy Prophet in his migration journey but this that they also had migrated in the way of Allah for the sake of Islam. The Holy Prophet was given the choice to marry any one of them he liked. Accordingly, in A.H. 7 he married Hadrat Umm Habibah. (Incidentally, in this verse it has been elucidated that the daughters of one’s paternal and maternal uncles and aunts are lawful for a Muslim. In this regard the Islamic Law is different both from the Christian Law and from the Jewish Law. Among the Christians one cannot marry a woman whose line of descent joins one’s own anywhere in the last seven generations, and among the Jews it is permissible even to marry one’s real niece, i.e. daughter of one’s brother or sister. (Maududi 33/87.)

        To justify the marriage between first cousins among Muslims, Maulana Maududi cites irrelevant matters of the Jews and the Christians. While currently, the first cousin marriage among the Jews and the Christians is indeed rare, the same may not be true for the Muslims as the statistics from the above article demonstrates.

        In fact, Dr. Mahathir the former Prime Minister of Malaysia was so concerned about the first cousin marriages among the Muslims in Malaysia that he wrote a book, The Malay Dilemma. In this book Dr Mahathir postulated that one of the main reasons for the absolute backwardness of Malays is due to their practice of in breeding. He was a medical professional. He wrote that because of in breeding the Malays have a very limited genetic pool.

        Here are a few excerpts from Dr Mahathir’s book The Malay Dilemma.

        Generally speaking, modern ideas on the evolution of man are not acceptable to Muslims and therefore to Malays. But even Malays admit that certain characteristics are passed from parents to offspring. “Bapak borek, anak beritek” is a well known Malay saying which means “A spotted father begets a speckled son.” The meaning is obvious. If this is so for an individual then hereditary influence must play a role in the development of a collection of individuals which constitutes a race. What is not generally known by the Malays is the effect of in breeding.

        In this book I have explained how the laws of genetics, which govern the transmission of hereditary characteristics, are affected adversely by in breeding and other marriage practices.

        There has been a lot of scientific thinking on the subject of in breeding and the effect on human society. Cyril Dean Darlington, a British geneticist, in his book, The Evolution of Man and Society, takes the extreme view that the evolution of human society is the product of genes. According to him, civilizations flourish and decay in obedience to genetic decrees. He pointed out that once a ruling class fixed itself in power, it sought to conserve that power by in breeding, thus denying the infusion of fresh stock. It was this habit, according to Darligton, that expedited the decline of the Pharaohs, the Ptolemies and the Caesars.
        This interesting hypothesis is perhaps too extreme to be generally accepted even by non Muslims. In any case, Darligton was referring mainly to incest, a practice which is unknown among the Malays. However, the modern definition of in breeding includes marriages between first cousins and other close relatives, a practice fairly common among the Malays. Hereditary influence also produces an adverse effect in a society which, abhorring celibacy, insists that everyone, fit or unfit, should marry. Thus, the deformed in mind and body are somehow paired off and reproduce.

        While it must be admitted that inbreeding is not general among the Malays, what cannot be denied is that the instances of in breeding are greater among them than among the other major races in Malaysia—the Chinese. In fact Chinese marriage customs specifically prevents in breeding. And so it is correct to say that in breeding together with forced marriages of the unfit produce a much greater percentage of human failures among Malays as compared with other races.

        This explanation is offered in mitigation and defense of my views. Nevertheless it is not expected that they will be easily accepted. The implications are too depressing and hold no promise of easy or rapid remedies. (Dr Mahathir Mohamad, The Malay Dilemma, p. 1, 2.)

        Mendel’s law states that offspring are not intermediate in type between the two parents, but that the type of one or the other is predominant according to a fixed law. The importance of this law lies in its rejection of the popular concept that offspring must be a dilution of the opposing characters of the parents.
        Mendels’s Law is best illustrated by experiments in breeding white and brown mice. Provided that a sufficiently large series of experiments is carried out, the mating of white and brown mice will produce not spotted or brownish white mice but white mice predominantly. But if this (sic) first generation of white mice are mated among themselves, the offspring are not all white but a mixture of pure white and pure brown in the proportion of three whites to one brown. The point this illustrates is that white is a dominant characteristic which shows up in the first generation. However, even though the first generation appears pure white, it has a hidden brown factor which is transmissible to the next generation. But this brown factor is weak as shown by the fact that only one in four of the second generation is brown in colour. (Dr Mahathir Mohamad, The Malay Dilemma, p. 17)

        A dominant characteristic tends to cancel a recessive characteristic, and it is clear that if the parents have different sets of dominant characteristics, then the offspring will have a combination of all the dominant characteristics of the parents. It follows therefore that the best offspring are those resulting from parents with different good dominant characteristics. Thus since close relatives tend to resemble each other and the chances of carrying similar recessive characteristics are greater, marriage between such relatives will not produce the best offspring. On the other hand, as unrelated people have more differences in characteristic, a marriage between such people would tend to produce ideal offspring with good dominant characteristics of both parents, while the recessive characteristics are cancelled.         Predictably, after the first publication of The Malay Dilemma, the Malaysian Government banned it, and Dr Mahathir was expelled from the Malaysia’s most dominant Muslim party UMNO (United Malays National Organisation). Malaysian Law stipulates that all Malays are, by definition, Muslims. A few years later, Dr Mahathir was again admitted into UMNO, and he finally became the UMNO president, but his book The Malay Dilemma remained proscribed. Only after Dr Mahathir became the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the ban on this controversial book was lifted, and republished in 1981.

        Admittedly, Dr Mahathir is very knowledgeable in genetics and his courage to tell the truth is admirable.
        But Dr Mahathir did not have the supreme intrepidity to blame the genetic root of Malay backwardness to Islam—more precisely that the Malays, being deeply Islamic religious, are simply following Islamic rules on first cousin marriage and emulating their prophet, Muhammad. Dr Mahathir was too fearful to be seen as anti islam. He blamed the Malays for their proclivity towards in breeding and not Islam. It was too dangerous for him to do so.

        CONCLUSION:

        Like it or not, Incest in Islam is alive and kicking well as can be illustrated from several verses of the Qur’an. The various interpretations, often contradictory, just prove that these words could not be from Allah. Allah cannot be so dim-witted not to know what is best for His Ummah. All knowing, almighty Allah cannot be so careless that He would leave His words in such a manner that what one group of Muslims means to be halal may be death to another group of Muslims. The topic of incest in Islam is such a dangerous game. It also possible that the inherent backward of the Muslim in general might be rooted in their limited genetic pool because of incestuous marriage practiced in many Islamic nation.

        MUSLIM INBREEDING:
        IMPACTS ON INTELLIGENCE, SANITY, HEALTH & SOCIETY

        Massive inbreeding within the Muslim culture during the last 1.400 years may have done catastrophic damage to their gene pool. The consequences of intermarriage between first cousins often have serious impact on the offspring’s intelligence, sanity, health and on their surroundings

        The most famous example of inbreeding is in ancient Egypt, where several Pharaonic dynasties collapsed after a couple of hundred years. In order to keep wealth and power within the family, the Pharaohs often married their own sister or half-sister and after a handful of generations the offspring were mentally and physically unfit to rule. Another historical example is the royal houses of Europe where royal families often married among each other because tradition did not allow them to marry people of non-royal class.
        The high amount of mentally retarded and handicapped royalties throughout European history shows the unhealthy consequences of this practice. Luckily, the royal families have now allowed themselves to marry for love and not just for status.

        The Muslim culture still practices inbreeding and has been doing so for longer than any Egyptian dynasty. This practice also predates the world’s oldest monarchy (the Danish) by 300 years.

        A rough estimate shows that close to half of all Muslims in the world are inbred: In Pakistan, 70 percent of all marriages are between first cousins (so-called “consanguinity”) and in Turkey the amount is between 25-30 percent (Jyllands-Posten, 27/2 2009 More stillbirths among immigrants”

        Statistical research on Arabic countries shows that up to 34 percent of all marriages in Algiers are consanguine (blood related), 46 percent in Bahrain, 33 percent in Egypt, 80 percent in Nubia (southern area in Egypt), 60 percent in Iraq, 64 percent in Jordan, 64 percent in Kuwait, 42 percent in Lebanon, 48 percent in Libya, 47 percent in Mauritania, 54 percent in Qatar, 67 percent in Saudi Arabia, 63 percent in Sudan, 40 percent in Syria, 39 percent in Tunisia, 54 percent in the United Arabic Emirates and 45 percent in Yemen (Reproductive Health Journal, 2009 Consanguinity and reproductive health among Arabs.).
        A large part of inbred Muslims are born from parents who are themselves inbred – which increase the risks of negative mental and physical consequenses greatly.

        The amount of blood related marriages is lower among Muslim immigrants living in the West. Among Pakistanis living in Denmark the amount is down to 40 percent and 15 percent among Turkish immigrants (Jyllands-Posten, 27/2 2009 More stillbirths among immigrants”.).

        More than half of Pakistani immigrants living in Britain are intermarried:

        The research, conducted by the BBC and broadcast to a shocked nation on Tuesday, found that at least 55% of the community was married to a first cousin. This is thought to be linked to the probability that a British Pakistani family is at least 13 times more likely than the general population to have children with recessive genetic disorders.” (Times of India, 17/11 2005 Ban UK Pakistanis from marrying cousins).
        The lower percentages might be because it is difficult to get the chosen family member to the country, or because health education is better in the West.

        LOW INTELLIGENCE

        Several studies show that children of consanguineous marriages have lower intelligence than children of non-related parents. Research shows that the IQ is 10-16 points lower in children born from related parents and that abilities related to social behavior develops slower in inbred babies:

        “Effects of parental consanguinity on the cognitive and social behavior of children have been studied among the Ansari Muslims of Bhalgapur, Bihar.

        IQ in inbred children (8-12 years old) is found to be lower (69 in rural and 79 in suburban populations) than that of the outbred ones (79 and 95 respectively). The onset of various social profiles like visual fixation, social smile, sound seizures, oral expression and hand-grasping are significantly delayed among the new-born inbred babies.” (Indian National Science Academy, 1983 Consanguinity Effects on Intelligence Quotient and Neonatal Behaviours of nsari Muslim Children”).

        The article “Effects of inbreeding on Raven Matrices” concludes that “Indian Muslim school boys, ages 13 to 15 years, whose parents are first cousins, were compared with classmates whose parents are genetically unrelated on the Raven Standard Progressive Matrices, a nonverbal test of intelligence. The inbred group scored significantly lower and had significantly greater variance than the non-inbred group, both on raw scores and on scores statistically adjusted to control for age and socioeconomic status.” (Behaviour Genetics, 1984).

        Another study shows that the risk of having an IQ lower than 70 goes up 400 percent from 1.2 percent in children from normal parents to 6.2 percent in inbred children: “The data indicate that the risk for mental retardation in matings of normal parents increases from 0.012 with random matings to 0.062 for first-cousin parentage.” (Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, 1978 Effect of inbreeding on IQ and mental retardation”). The study A study of possible deleterious effects of consanguinity concludes, that “The occurrence of malignancies, congenital abnormalities, mental retardation and physical handicap was significantly higher in offspring of consanguineous than non-consanguineous marriages.”

        MENTAL & PHYSICAL DISEASES & DEATH

        The risk of stillbirth doubles when parents are first cousins (Jyllands-Posten, 27/2 2009 More stillbirths among immigrants). One study analyzed the risk of perinatal death (the child dies during its own birth), infant death (child dies while still infant) and autosomal recessive disorders (serious and often deadly genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy):

        Perinatal mortality in the Pakistani children was 1.5 times higher than that in the Norwegian children, and infant mortality in the Pakistani children was more than double that in the Norwegian children. Deaths due to autosomal recessive disorders were 18 times more common in the Pakistani children. Similarly, deaths due to multiple malformations, which may be part of unrecognized autosomal recessive syndromes, were 10 times more common.

        There are also evidence suggesting that inbred people has a higher risk of developing mental disorders: “The clinical observations indicated that depression is very high in some communities where the consanguinity of marriages is also high.” (Indian Journal of Psychiatry, 2009 “Relationship between consanguinity and depression in a south Indian population”.

        Another study focused on the relationship between intermarriage and schizophrenia: “The closer the blood relative, the more likely was there to be a schizophrenic illness.” (American Psychiatric Press, 1982 The role of genetic factors in the ethiology of the schizophrenic disorders.
        The increased risk of insanity among children of marriages between cousins might explain why immigrant patients are stressing the psychiatric system and are strongly overrepresented among insane criminals: “In Sct. Hans Hospital, which has the biggest ward for clinically insane criminals in Denmark, more than 40 percent of the patients have an immigrant background.” (Kristeligt Dagblad, 26/6 2007 Ethnic minorities overrepresented among the criminal insane).

        IMPLICATIONS FOR THE WESTERN & MUSLIM WORLD

        Kaled’d father Mohammed says: “From the beginning I was a bit sad and she was abased. She started crying but I said in the end we can’t do anything. That’s how God created him. Even if we cry from now on until 100 years, you can’t do anything .” FROM The Sun-Herald (Sydney, 28th May, 2006), pages 79-80
        The consequences for offspring of consanguineous marriages are unpleasantly clear: Death, low intelligence or even mental retardation, handicaps and diseases often leading to a slow and painful death. Other consequences are:

        Limited social skills and understanding, limited ability to manage education and work procedures and painful treatment procedures. The negative cognitive consequences also influence the executive functions. The impairment of concentration and emotional control most often leads to anti-social behavior.
        The economic costs and consequences for society of inbreeding are of course secondary to the reality of human suffering.

        However, inbreeding among Muslims has severe implications for both the Western societies and the Muslim world.

        Expenses related to mentally and physically handicapped Muslim immigrants drains the budget for other public services: “When cousins have children together, they are twice as likely to have a disabled child – it costs municipal funds dearly. Disabled immigrant children costs Danish municipalities millions. In Copenhagen County alone, the number of disabled children in the overall increase of 100 percent at 10 years. … Meredith Lefelt has contacted 330 families with disabled children in Copenhagen. She estimates that one third of their clients have a foreign cultural background.” (BT, 10/11 2003 Immigrants inbreeding costing one million.

        On top come the expenses for Muslim immigrants who – because of different consequences of being born from blood related parents – are not able to live up to the challenges of our Western work market: Muslim immigrants and their descendants in Europe have a very high rate of unemployment.

        The same goes for Muslims in USA, where the Gallup Institute made a study involving 300.000 people concluding “The majority of Muslims in USA have a lower income, are less educated and have worse jobs than the population as a whole.” (Berlingske Tidende, d. 3. marts 2009: Muslims thrive in USA.
        The cognitive consequences of Muslim inbreeding might explain why non-Western immigrants are more than 300 percent more likely to fail the Danish army’s intelligence test than native Danes: “19.3% of non-Western immigrants are not able to pass the Danish army’s intelligence test. In comparison, only 4.7% of applicants with Danish background do not pass.” (TV 2 Nyhederne, 13/6 2007 Immigrants flunk army test.

        It probably also explains – at least partly – why two thirds of all immigrant school children with Arabic backgrounds are illiterate after 10 years in the Danish school system: “Those who speak Arabic with their parents have an extreme tendency to lack reading abilities – 64 percent are illiterate. … No matter if it concerns reading abilities, mathematics or science, the pattern is the same: The bilingual (largely Muslim) immigrants’ skills are exceedingly poor compared to their Danish classmates.” (Rockwool Foundation Research Unit, May 2007: Ethnic students does not make Danish children worse.

        The high expenses on special education for slow learners consumes one third of the budget for the Danish schools. “Immigrant children are clearly overrepresented on Copenhagen’s schools for retarded children and children with physical handicaps. … 51 percent of the children on the three schools in Copenhagen for children with physical and mental handicaps har immigrant back ground and on one of the schools the amount is 70 percent. … These amounts are significantly higher than the share of immigrant children in the municipality, which is 33 percent. The many handicapped children are a clear evidence that there are many intermarried parents in the immigrant families.” (Jydske Vestkysten, 4/4 2009 Tosprogede i overtal på handicapskoler).

        Our high level of education may also make it harder for inbred students to follow and finish their studies: “Young people with minority backgrounds have a significantly higher dropout rate at secondary schools than youth with a Danish background. For trade school education, the dropout rate among immigrants is 60 percent, twice as high among adolescents with a Danish background….

        There is great variation in educational outcomes when compared with national origin. For example, dropout among young people with Lebanese or Iranian background is far greater than among people of Vietnamese background.” (Center for Knowledge on Integration in Randers, May 2005 “Youth, education and integration“). ”Among immigrant children that are born and raised in Denmark, more than a third has no education.         “The Arab world translates about 330 books annually, one fifth of the number that Greece translates. The cumulative total of translated books since the Caliph Maa’moun’s [sic] time (the ninth century) is about 100,000, almost the average that Spain translates in one year.” (Eugene Rogan ”Arab Books and human development”. Index of Censorship, vol. 33, issue 2 April 2004, p. 152-157). “70 percent of the Turkish citizens never read books.”(APA, 23 February 2009 “).

        CONCLUSION

        There is no doubt that the wide spread tradition of first cousin marriages among Muslims has harmed the gene pool among Muslims. Because Muslims’ religious beliefs prohibit marrying non-Muslims and thus prevents them from adding fresh genetic material to their population, the genetic damage done to their gene pool since their prophet allowed first cousin marriages 1,400 years ago are most likely massive. The overwhelming direct and indirect human and societal consequences have been explained above.
        Compassion for the health of future generations should be enough to ban intermarriage among first cousins. The economic and societal consequences do also count. Such a ban would also lessen Muslim immigration to the West because many Muslim families would like to be able to continue their practice of intermarriage in order to live up to cultural and religious traditions and keep wealth and power inside their family.

        A legislative ban on first cousin marriages is a logical and compassionate imperative for both the Muslim world, for EU and our Western national governments.

This meaning is also apparent in the Ayah, as the Jews accused Maryam and her son of grave accusations: They accused her of fornication and claimed that `Isa was an illegitimate son.           [يأَيُّهَا الَّذِى نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ]
          (O you to whom the Dhikr (the Qur’an) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man!) When Allah sent `Isa with proofs and guidance, the Jews, may Allah’s curses, anger, torment and punishment be upon them, envied him because of his prophethood and obvious miracles; curing the blind and leprous and bringing the dead back to life, by Allah’s leave. He also used to make the shape of a bird from clay and blow in it, and it became a bird by Allah’s leave and flew. `Isa performed other miracles that Allah honored him with, yet the Jews defied and bellied him and tried their best to harm him. Allah’s Prophet `Isa could not live in any one city for long and he had to travel often with his mother, peace be upon them. Even so, the Jews were not satisfied, and they went to the king of Damascus at that time, a Greek polytheist who worshipped the stars. They told him that there was a man in Bayt Al-Maqdis misguiding and dividing the people in Jerusalem and stirring unrest among the king’s subjects. The king became angry and wrote to his deputy in Jerusalem to arrest the rebel leader, stop him from causing unrest, crucify him and make him wear a crown of thorns. When the king’s deputy in Jerusalem received these orders, he went with some Jews to the house that `Isa was residing in, and he was then with twelve, thirteen or seventeen of his companions. That day was a Friday, in the evening. They surrounded `Isa in the house, and when he felt that they would soon enter the house or that he would sooner or later have to leave it, he said to his companions, “Who volunteers to be made to look like me, for which he will be my companion in Paradise” A young man volunteered, but `Isa thought that he was too young. He asked the question a second and third time, each time the young man volunteering, prompting `Isa to say, “Well then, you will be that man.” Allah made the young man look exactly like `Isa, while a hole opened in the roof of the house, and `Isa was made to sleep and ascended to heaven while asleep. Allah said,

          [إِذْ قَالَ اللَّهُ يعِيسَى إِنِّي مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَىَّ]
          (And (remember) when Allah said: “O `Isa! I will take you and raise you to Myself.”) When `Isa ascended, those who were in the house came out. When those surrounding the house saw the man who looked like `Isa, they thought that he was `Isa. So they took him at night, crucified him and placed a crown of thorns on his head. The Jews then boasted that they killed `Isa and some Christians accepted their false claim, due to their ignorance and lack of reason. As for those who were in the house with `Isa, they witnessed his ascension to heaven, while the rest thought that the Jews killed `Isa by crucifixion. They even said that Maryam sat under the corpse of the crucified man and cried, and they say that the dead man spoke to her. All this was a test from Allah for His servants out of His wisdom. Allah explained this matter in the Glorious Qur’an which He sent to His honorable Messenger, whom He supported with miracles and clear, unequivocal evidence. Allah is the Most Truthful, and He is the Lord of the worlds Who knows the secrets, what the hearts conceal, the hidden matters in heaven and earth, what has occurred, what will occur, and what would occur if it was decreed. He said,

          [وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَـكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ]
          (but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but it appeared as that to them,) referring to the person whom the Jews thought was `Isa. This is why Allah said afterwards,

          [وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ اخْتَلَفُواْ فِيهِ لَفِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مَا لَهُمْ بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِلاَّ اتِّبَاعَ الظَّنِّ]
          (and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture.) referring to the Jews who claimed to kill `Isa and the ignorant Christians who believed them. Indeed they are all in confusion, misguidance and bewilderment. This is why Allah said,

          [وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَقِيناً]
          (For surely; they killed him not.) meaning they are not sure that `Isa was the one whom they killed. Rather, they are in doubt and confusion over this matter.

          [بَل رَّفَعَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزاً]
          (But Allah raised him up unto Himself. And Allah is Ever All-Powerful,) meaning, He is the Almighty, and He is never weak, nor will those who seek refuge in Him ever be subjected to disgrace,

          [حَكِيماً]
          (All-Wise.) in all that He decides and ordains for His creatures. Indeed, Allah’s is the clearest wisdom, unequivocal proof and the most glorious authority. Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that Ibn `Abbas said, “Just before Allah raised `Isa to the heavens, `Isa went to his companions, who were twelve inside the house. When he arrived, his hair was dripping water and he said, `There are those among you who will disbelieve in me twelve times after he had believed in me.’ He then asked, `Who volunteers that his image appear as mine, and be killed in my place. He will be with me (in Paradise)’ One of the youngest ones among them volunteered and `Isa asked him to sit down. `Isa again asked for a volunteer, and the young man kept volunteering and `Isa asking him to sit down. Then the young man volunteered again and `Isa said, `You will be that man,’ and the resemblance of `Isa was cast over that man while `Isa ascended to heaven from a hole in the house. When the Jews came looking for `Isa, they found that young man and crucified him. Some of `Isa’s followers disbelieved in him twelve times after they had believed in him. They then divided into three groups. One group, Al-Ya`qubiyyah (Jacobites), said, `Allah remained with us as long as He willed and then ascended to heaven.’ Another group, An-Nasturiyyah (Nestorians), said, `The son of Allah was with us as long as he willed and Allah took him to heaven.’ Another group, Muslims, said, `The servant and Messenger of Allah remained with us as long as Allah willed, and Allah then took him to Him.’ The two disbelieving groups cooperated against the Muslim group and they killed them. Ever since that happened, Islam was then veiled until Allah sent Muhammad .” This statement has an authentic chain of narration leading to Ibn `Abbas, and An-Nasa’i narrated it through Abu Kurayb who reported it from Abu Mu`awiyah. Many among the Salaf stated that `Isa asked if someone would volunteer for his appearance to be cast over him, and that he will be killed instead of `Isa, for which he would be his companion in Paradise.

            THE SATAN VOODOOS

            Every time a Muslim stands for prayer he must recite ‘Nauju Billah Minhas Shaytan ar Rajim’, which means, ‘I seek refuge from Satan, the devil’. This litany is compulsory in almost all Islamic acts and rituals. In many cases, these few words accompany the words, `Bismi Allah ar Rahman ar Rahim` which means, ‘I begin in the name of Allah, the most compassionate, the most merciful’. Muslims never contemplate why they must mention the name of Satan whenever they recite the name of Allah. Why must they seek refuge from Satan whenever they seek Allah’s bounty? This non stop repetition of Satan’s association with Allah really means that Allah, after all, is not a good protector of His ardent devotees. The most important message in the Qur’an is that Allah is in charge of Muslims, and Satan is in charge of non Muslims. Since Allah has declared a permanent war on Satan, it logically it follows, that the Islamic world is at permanent war with the un Islamic world, the world of Satan. There cannot be any negotiation with the non Muslims, since it means negotiating with the Satan, which Allah has forbidden. In this episode we shall explore a few fascinating features of Islamic Satan. This will help us to understand why the jihadist/Islamist killers do what they do. They simply follow Allah’s dictum (9:5): ‘fight Satan (that is the non Muslims) anywhere you find him.

            ISLAMIC SATAN IS ILLUSIVE: IT HAS SEVERAL IDENTITIES

            In Islam, Satan is a mysterious, contradictory, convoluted entity. In the Hebrew Bible, such as in the Book of Job, Satan (aka Devil) is seen as an angel and an adversary of God. He rebelled against God and speaking through the serpent, he seduced Eve into disobeying God’s command. His goal is to lead people astray from the path of God. In Islamic thought, Allah instructed all his angels to prostrate before the newly created Adam: all the angels, except Satan. The Qur’an also narrates this scenario, except that the Qur’an provides the reason why Satan did what he did. According to the Qur’an, Satan was actually a jinn, who used to keep company with the angels. Satan was proud of his jinn background, and so he declined to bow down to lowly Adam.

            This would have been quite cognisant had Allah been consistent with the identity of Satan. Let us see how Allah misleads us vis-à-vis His Islamic Satan.

            Verse 18:50 of the Qur’an mentions Allah’s command to the angels to prostrate before Adam. In this verse we learn that Islamic Satan’s name is Iblis. To clarify, ibn Kathir writes that before Iblis under took the path of sin, Iblis was with the angels and was called `Azazil.’ He was among the residents of the earth and was one of the most active worshippers and knowledgeable persons among the angels.

            Ibn Kathir confuses us. We learn from the Qur’an that Satan (in this case, Iblis) lived in Islamic Paradise, and that Azazil is the Islamic angel of death. Ibn Kathir probably understood correctly Allah’s intelligence, so he clarifies further by saying that when Allah commanded the angels to prostrate before Adam, Iblis was included in this command. Although Iblis was not an angel, he was trying and pretending to imitate the angels’ behaviour and deeds, and this was why he was also included in the command to the angels to prostrate before Adam.

            In verse 18:50 Allah instructs the Muslims not to follow the progeny of Satan. This means Satan (Iblis) has many children. To confirm this, Ghazali (p.3.43) writes that Allah proclaimed that for each child born to a human being a child is also born for the devil.
            Ash Shifa (p.343) writes that Iblis is the father of jinns; he was the leader of angels.
            How is this possible—the father of the jinns becoming the leader of the angels?
            In verse 81:25 Allah says that Muhammad’s words are not the words of an evil spirit. Jalayn says this evil spirit means Satan. This implies that Satan is a spirit. To confuse us further ibn Abbas writes that the name of Satan is al Marmi.

            THERE ARE MANY ISLAMIC SATANS: EVERYONE HAS A SATAN

            We already noted that Satan has many children. The Qur’an further confirms this in verse 26:210. In this verse Allah says that the Qur’an is not from Satans. Please note that previously, in verse 81:25 Allah claimed that the Qur’an is not the words of an evil spirit.
            Allah says in verse 19:83 that He has unleashed many devils to stir up (confuse) the disbelievers

            In an interesting hadis, Sahih Muslim (39.6759) tells us that every person has a devil attached with him. Even Aisha, Muhammad’s most favourite child wife, had a devil attached with her. But, Muhammad claimed that Allah had contained the devil (Satan) the devil attached with him (Muhammad).

            Ash Shifa (p.296) writes that everyone has a jinn and an angel as his companions. To confirm this, Ash Shifa quotes the following hadis:
            ’Abdullah ibn Mas’ud said that the Messenger of Allah said, “Everyone of you is given a companion from the jinn and a companion from the angels.” They asked, “You as well, Messenger of Allah?” he said, “Me as well, but Allah has helped me against him and he has given up.”

            SATAN BEFRIENDS WEALTHY PEOPLE

            Islamic Satan is a friend of the wealthy, influential people. In verse 4:38 of the Qur’an we read that those who spend lavishly to show off, but have no faith in Allah, takes Satan as their friend.

            Further, Allah says in verse 17:64 that Satan’s promises are nothing but deceit. Allah allowed Satan to befool mankind through his voice in the form of music, songs, and idle talks. Allah also permitted Satan to tempt the weak believers to earn wealth and money through illicit means. Many Islamist scholars say that this verse bans music and song for Muslims, as Music and songs are the forte of Satan.

            Ibn Kathir explains this verse in this manner:

            Allah caused Shaytan to take a share of wealth and children by making them Magians, Jews and Christians, and making them follow any religion other than Islam, and by making them give a part of their wealth to the Shaytan.

            In Sunan Abu Dawud (2.14.2550) we read that the bell is a musical instrument of Satan. Since Christians use bells in their churches, this means the Christians are the followers of Satan’s music. By the way, the Christian world is much wealthier than the Islamic world. This also proves that the Satan helps the rich.

            SATAN SUPPLIES WINE IN ISLAMIC PARADISE

            Allah says in verse 5:90 that intoxicants (wine and spirits), stones (i.e., stone/idol worshipping), and gambling are Satan’s handiwork.
            In verse 47:15 and 83:25 Allah promises Muslims that they will be in gardens with rivers of incorruptible water, rivers of milk, rivers of wine, rivers of honey
            But non Muslims will dwell in fire, they will drink boiling water which will tear their intestines.

            This means Allah will appoint Satan to supply wine to the Muslims residing in Islamic Paradise.

            While Satan takes care of wine for Muslims, Allah will punish the non Muslims.

            NON MUSLIMS ARE FRIENDS OF SATAN

            We already saw Satan helps the wealthy people, the non Muslims. This means there are only two worlds—the world of Allah or the world of Islam, and the world of Satan or the world of non Muslims.

            This is exactly what Allah says in verse 4:76. Believers fight for Allah, unbelievers fight for evil, so fight against the friends of Satan. This verse literally divides the world into two camps—the world of Islam and the world of Satan or Kufr; i.e., Dar-al-Islam and Dar-al-Harb or Satan.

            In verse 6:121 Allah clarifies further that Muhammad receives Allah’s revelations; Satan’s friends receive Satan’s revelations. Let us read ibn Kathir explanation of this verse:

            There are two types of revelation, one from Allah and one from the devil. Allah’s revelation came to Muhammad, while the Satan’s revelation comes to his friends.
            In verse 6:125 Allah says He gives authority to whom He wills. Jalalyn’s explanation of this verse is that Allah gives authority to Satan over those who do not believe. This means Allah has a compact with Satan to handover non Muslims to him (Satan).

            SATAN IS MORE POWERFUL THAN ALLAH

            This might sound ridiculous. But if we were to trust Allah’s words, this is precisely what Allah says.

            In verse 16:98 Allah says that while reciting the Qur’an seek protection from Satan.

            Ibn Kathir explains this verse in this manner:

            The reason for seeking refuge with Allah before reading is that the reader should not get confused or mixed up, and that the Shaytan would not confuse him or stop him from thinking about and pondering over the meaning of what he reads. Hence the majority of scholars said that refuge should be sought with Allah before starting to read.
            In verse 16:99 Allah says that Satan has no power over the believers, whereas in verse 16:100 Allah maintains that Satan has power over those who are his (Satan’s) friends. Funny, but it appears that all Powerful Allah is powerless to stop Satan from recruiting his followers. So Satan conducts Satanic Jihad, and Allah conducts Islamic Jihad.
            Since non Muslims (the followers of Satan) are in majority and more powerful, it means Satan (or Satanic Jihad) is indeed more powerful than Allah (or Islamic Jihad).
            Allah revealed verse 3:155 in connection with the Muslim’s defeat in the battle of Uhud in the hands of the followers of Satan. Allah candidly admits that Satan caused the defeat of the Muslims in this battle. Therefore, at times, Satan is militarily more powerful than Allah.

            SATAN FARTS AT ALLAH’S PRAYER CALL

            Allah is truly toothless in the face of Satan’s deliberate attempt to humiliate Him. According to Allah, the sweetest music in the universe is the Muezzin’s call for prayer (Azan). When Azan is in the air all Muslims must get ready to offer prayer. Satan, on the contrary, gives a damn to Allah’s prayer. He simply humbles Allah by farting whenever he hears the Islamic Azan. It seems that Allah can do nothing about this chutzpah of Satan.
            There are a number of ahadith, which tell us that when Azan is announced Satan farts.

            Here are few samples:

            *. When Azan is pronounced, Satan takes to heel and passes wind with noise… (Sahih Bukhari, 1.11.582)

            *. When Azan is called Satan runs back breaking the wind so that he cannot hear the call, and when the call is over he comes back… (Sahih Muslims, 4.1161)
            *. When Satan hears the Azan he runs away 36 miles from Medina… (Sahih Muslim, 4.0751)

            *. When Satan hears Azan, he farts… (Sunaan Nasai, 2.1256)

            SATAN SWIMS IN YOUR BODY

            Keep your mouth shut with your hand because devil enters you when you yawn.

            Satan is so powerful that he completely fuses himself in a human body. A hadis in Sahih Bukhari (3.33.251) tells us that Satan reaches everywhere in a human body. Another hadis in Sahih Bukhari (4.54.501) says that Satan circulates in the human mind as blood circulates in it.

            It is just incredible, the power of Satan. Why cannot Allah circulate in a human body? Why did Allah empower Satan to accomplish the feat that Allah cannot do? Just imagine, instead of Satan, if only Allah could swim in the blood stream of human.
            Satan even enters your body when you yawn, so you must refrain from yawning (Sahih Muslim, 42.7132). Why Allah cannot Allah enter the human body?

            Here are a few more gems of ahadith about Islamic Satan.

            SATAN PLAYS WITH HUMANS

            Satan is quite adept at playing with humans. So where’s Mecca?
            It is also incredible that Satan is quite adept at playing with human, whereas Allah is incapable of doing so. If only Allah could play with humans—just imagine!
            Just think, if only Allah could play with humans like Satan does how good the life would have been.

            Here is what we find about Islamic Satan’s game with humans:

            *. Satan (devil) plays with pebbles; if you play with pebbles, you play with devil (Sunaan Nasai, 2.1269)

            Ash Shifa (p.296) tells the incredible story that once Muhammad wanted Satan to play with the children of Medina. Here is the hadis:

            In the hadith of Abu’d –Darda’, the Prophet said, “The enemy of Allah, Iblis, came to me brandishing a brand of fire on my face.” The Prophet was doing the prayer and he sought refuge with Allah and cursed Shaytan. He said, “Then I wanted to seize him so he could be shackled and in the morning the children of Medina could play with him.”

            SATAN ATTENDS EVERY CHILDBIRTH: HE TOUCHES EVERY INFANT

            Here are a few interesting ahadith on Satan’s power over newly born babies. If only Allah had the same power, every child would be a perfect bundle of joy.

            *. Except for Mary and her son Jesus, all babies cry during their birth, because Satan touches them… (Sahih Bukhari, 4.55.641)

            *. Whenever a child is born, Satan pricks it; that is why the child cries. Only Mary and Jesus were not pricked by Satan…(Sahih Muslim, 30.5837, 5838)

            *. Say prayer during sexual intercourse, and Satan will not touch your child…(Sahih Bukhari, 4.54.503)

            SATAN EATS WITH YOU

            According to Islam whenever you eat Satan joins you. Satan actually eats with left hand. So anyone eating with his/her left hand is a Satan (Sahih Muslim, 23.5007). Sahih Muslim (23.5006) also says that if you mention the name of Allah while entering a house and while eating a food then Satan will not come near it.

            Here are a few ahadith on Satan’s eating with you:

            *. Satan is present when you are eating food; if you drop your mouthful of food then do not leave it for the Satan to eat it; remove the filth and then eat the food…(Sahih Muslim, 23.5046, 5049)

            *. Perform eating and drinking with the right hand; Satan eats with left hand…(Sunaan ibn Majah, 4.3266)

            *. Satan considers that food lawful on which Allah’s name is not mentioned…(Sahih Muslim, 23.5004)

            THESE ARE SATAN’S FAVORITE HUNTING GROUNDS

            Allah has very little idea about the permanent abode of Satan. In a hadis in Sunaan Abu Dawud (1.0184) Muhammad said that the places where camels lie down are the places of Satan; so do not offer prayer there; but places where the sheep lie down are places of blessings; so you can offer prayers at these places. A Tirmidhi hadis (222) says that when you go to the market Iblis follows you. Another Tirmidhi hadis (930) mentions that whenever a man and a woman are alone together Satan visits them.
            Ghazali (p.3.39) writes that Allah created women as games for Satan, and Satan lives in markets and bazaars.

            In Mishkat (2.39), we read that if you do morning marketing then you are following Iblis.
            Satan Will Depart when You Do These:

            Strangely, getting rid of Islamic Satan is quite simple. All you need to do pray and prostrate before Allah, endlessly.

    Calling it legalized pedophilia, Iraqi women activists and others have come out in force against a proposed change of the Iraqi family law that will make it legal to marry a girl of nine.

    “The law deprives women of their dignity and human rights and deepens the sectarianism in Iraq,” says Hanaa Edwar, who heads the Al-Amal Association that strives to improve the socioeconomic situation of Iraqi people.

    The outrage against the draft Iraqi status law, due to go before the Iraqi Parliament after legislative elections in April, focuses mainly on the proposed lower marriage age for girls, which is now set at 18.
    “They are looking towards young children for having sex,” Edwar says. “Parents with daughters feel disgusted by it.”

    Edwar quotes a nine-year-old who spoke at a protest, saying she is playing with her friends, getting muddy and having to be washed every day. “She said:

    ‘I am a child, and I do not want to get married.’ A very simple and effective message.”

    Women in Kirkuk condemn Iraq’s draft family law.

    At the same time, child marriages are increasing in Iraq. Edwar knows many girls of around 10 being married in a religious ceremony outside the courts. Often, after a couple of months, a divorce is announced. The background is poverty, she says, with parents agreeing for money.

    “A girl will be a mother at 12, with no registration for mother or child, so no ID, no rights and no healthcare. They deprive her of her education. Already half of all the girls in rural areas are illiterate, and this will increase that number even more.”

    Edwar is supported by Yanar Mohammed, the president of the Organization for Women’s Freedom in Iraq. “The draft (law) is all about the sexual pleasures and rights of men,” she says. “It is an abuse of children’s rights and their bodily integrity.”

    She points out that the new law also arranges alimony in case of a divorce.

    “When the wife is too young or too old for sex, no payment is needed. There is no mentioning of a loving agreement, a female is just a body to be enjoyed.”

    Mohammed calls the draft law

    “something that people might have agreed to two thousand years ago, but not today. But the religious men in expensive suits who speak in the name of God do not ask the people whether they want it or not.”

    The proposal has been based on the Shiite Ja’fari school, called after an eighth century Shiite imam. A Supreme Shiite Judicial Council in the holy city of Najaf will supervise nationwide religious tribunals that will settle family matters, and will give the Shiite clerical establishment a larger say in Iraq’s legal system.
    The legislation will amend the status law originating from 1959, which was then one of the most liberal of the region. It will apply for the majority of Iraqi citizens, who are Shiites.

    Iraq’s council of ministers ratified the draft, proposed by the Shiite Minister of Justice Hassan Al-Shimari. Of the 29 ministers present at the cabinet meeting, 21 voted in favor. Yet clerics in Najaf have already distanced themselves from the bill. They had not expected so much opposition, suggests Mohammed.
    It was not only the legalization of child marriages that caused an outcry, but also other articles that interfere with the freedom and status of women, such as one that stipulates women over 18 years of age must still have fatherly consent for marriage. Another objectionable article says that a woman cannot leave the home without the permission of her husband. “Her rights are being confiscated,” concludes Edwar.
    There is anger about the proposed right for men to have sex with their wives, and the fact that women cannot refuse. The proposal that a Muslim man cannot marry a non-Muslim, other than in a temporary marriage, even contradicts Islam, as Edwar points out.

    Protests against the draft went to the streets of Baghdad on International Women’s Day. Edwar announces an advocacy campaign “to make people aware of the consequences. Most illiterate people hear it’s based on Ja’fari (law) and think it must be good.”

    She will lobby with decision makers in and out of the parliament, but thinks pressure from outside Iraq is essential. As Iraq has ratified Cedaw, the international convention against discrimination of women, the UN has already asked for the withdrawal of the draft law.

    Yanar Mohammed is convinced that “Iraqi people will not agree to the legalization of pedophilia,” but she also took to the streets and is campaigning against it.

    “The objections come from all sides, and the number of women who raised their voices is high.”
    There are also men speaking out, she says.

    “The politicians tried to make it seem as if all is done in a democratic way. But this is against all our rights. They cannot have it their way.”

      Around three years ago, I published an article in The Guardian, titled “Rapists in Iran’s regime”.[1] I explained how the ruling mafia regime uses rape against boys and girls as a method of crushing protesters’ characters. I also asked:

      “Why, despite its public exposure, does this regime continue to use rape and the threat of rape as weapons against its opponents, women and men alike? The question has to be understood within its cultural context. The regime knows that killing an opponent will make a martyr of her or him, and may even encourage others to join the struggle. Rape, however, can have devastating effects not only on an individual but on political morale as well. The regime believes that society believes that no one can become a hero for being raped.

      Within this context it is easier to risk one’s life for what one believes in, but difficult to join a protest knowing one might be raped. Also, even this regime finds it difficult to hide the murders of its opponents, but it can often neutralise a dissenter with rape, as most victims are too traumatised and ashamed to make this public.”

      To counter this crime, I suggested that the victims of rape, instead of feeling humiliated and ashamed, should stand with pride, and that the public should treat them as heroes:

      “Of course, centuries of patriarchal values and relationships will not vanish overnight. But Iranian society is learning fast that whoever suffers as a result of their struggle against the country’s most barbaric regime in the last two centuries has to be seen as a hero.”

      However, as we saw in the case of Sheler,[2] after her release from prison she felt ashamed about what had happened to her – so much so that she hardly left home and constantly tried to assure her relatives that the prison guards did not harm her in any way. Yet when the regime called her back to the prison, her horror was so great that she decided to commit suicide rather than go back to a prison where ‘nothing happened to her’.

      It is not difficult to assume what didn’t happen to her and why she preferred to die rather than go back to this place. The point is that perhaps Sheler would not have needed to suffer in silence if we, as Iranians, had taught ourselves not to see the sexual assault against political prisoners as a source of shame, and if we had learned that people who undergo any form of physical, sexual, psychological, emotional abuse for what they believe in should be treated as heroes and heroines. Maybe she could have talk about and exposed what happened to her in prison, and in this way to continue her political struggle which aimed to have a government that protects rather than violates people’s dignity.

      It is certain that at the moment you are reading this, there are anonymous Shelers in prisons, and that in the future there will be anonymous Shelers in prisons. So in order to deprive the regime of this savage tool of control and in order to support all prisoners who are sexually abused, we have to learn to regard them with pride, and as with all who have suffered torture to treat them as heroines and heroes, which they well deserve.

      Early one morning in 1981, I arrived at the middle school where I taught in Tehran and was informed by two guards from the notorious Evin prison that one of our students had been arrested and would not be returning to school.

      I knew that his father was a drug dealer, and supposed that he had been arrested on similar charges. It was the height of the post-revolutionary struggle between Iran’s revolutionary democratic front led by then-president Abolhassan Banisadr, and the dictatorial front led by the Islamic Republican party and its allies. A few months later, Banisadr was ousted in a coup and I was fired from my teaching post.

      Later on I learnt that on the same day my former student had been released and recruited as a guard in the same prison. I also learnt from his grandmother that he had not been involved with drugs, but had raped his sister and made her pregnant. At the time, stories of women and girls being raped in prison became so rife that Ayatollah Montazeri sent a team to investigate. They only verified the rumours. Male prison officers – many of them psychotic like my former student – were tasked to rape women, and extensively; one was even nicknamed “hamishe daamaad” (the forever groom).

      In other words, rape is nothing new to this regime, which even now tries in vain to hide itself behind Islam. However, after last June’s uprising, we are observing the emergence of a more widespread form of rape, and one that is also extended to men. This is not to say that it did not exist before, but now we are observing its systematic use. There is little public information about this to date.

      Abuses at Kahrizak prison, which came to be known as Iran’s Abu Ghraib, were exposed only because Mohsen Rooh-al-Amini, the son of a well-established conservative figure, was killed under torture. The regime was forced to close the prison and, later in August 2009, Ayatollah Karubi issued a statement saying, among other things, that some prisoners had been raped. After such exposure, one might have thought the regime would stop this brutal form of torture against its opponents. But victims and witnesses have continued to report its continuation. A few weeks ago, for example, revolutionary guards arrested a group of women that has gathered every Friday night in Laleh Park to protest the detention of their children.

      While in prison herself, one mother revealed that she saw a teenage boy begging a judge not to sent him back to solitary confinement. When the judge asked why, the boy replied, “because they keep raping me”. Two months ago, my friend’s son was arrested in a demonstration, and had to wage the fight of his life to prevent being raped by the guards in the car. And on 12 February, Fatemeh Karubi, wife of Ayatollah Karubi, wrote an open letter to Khamenei detailing the arrest of her 38-year-old son when his father’s car was attacked at a demonstration on the 31st anniversary of the 1979 revolution. She described how her son was viciously abused, both physically and verbally, in a mosque. The guards threatened to rape him.

      However, it is not at all clear that this threat of shame will remain powerful. Throughout this revolutionary struggle, we are observing astonishing shifts in cultural norms and values, especially in gender relations and in opposition to elements of patriarchy. We saw how the regime’s efforts to humiliate a student by publishing a photograph of him dressed in woman’s clothes fell flat; in just hours, thousands of other men snapped pictures of themselves in female dress, and published them on the internet to express solidarity. Of course, centuries of patriarchal values and relationships will not vanish overnight. But Iranian society is learning fast that whoever suffers as a result of their struggle against the country’s most barbaric regime in the last two centuries has to be seen as a hero.

      This regime is now fighting for survival, and has no red line left to cross. Since Ahmadinejad’s appointment to president and the encroachment of the Revolutionary Guard’s generals into the state and the economy, it can safely be considered a military-financial mafia. And like any other form of totalitarian state, it has sought and trained the most dehumanised individuals to become decisive, efficient and effective weapons in this struggle.

      They are, of course, culpable. But others must be brought to account. Khamenei, as the supreme leader with absolute power over – according to his ideologues like Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi – every Iranian person’s life, property and honour, and as the person who openly declared war on protestors after the election, bears ultimate responsibility for these crimes. He has already been accused of murdering his opponents into submission by a German court in the Mykonos trial, and has received numerous letters calling him to account for other crimes and abuses.

      Fatemeh Karubi’s letter is only the latest public example. Human rights organisations also have ample evidence of all sorts of crimes committed against the Iranian people by this regime, and we expect them to soon begin a process of establishing an international court in which Khamenei can be indicted for committing crimes against humanity.

      IRAN REFORMER SAYS HE WANTS TO PRESENT RAPE EVIDENCE

      (Reuters) – Iranian reformist cleric Mehdi Karoubi on Wednesday asked to meet top officials including the president to be able to present evidence of the rape of some detained post-election protesters, his party said.

      The Etemad-e Melli website said Karoubi made the call in a letter to parliament speaker Ali Larijani, who has dismissed Karoubi’s rape allegations last week as “baseless.”

      The meeting should be attended by Larijani, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani, former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and the state prosecutor, Karoubi said.
      “I ask you to organize a meeting … in which I can personally present my documents and evidence over the cases of sexual abuse in some prisons,” Karoubi said in the letter.
      “I am waiting for your quick and rational action,” he added.
      Karoubi, who came fourth in the disputed June 12 presidential election, has come under fire from hardliners for saying some protesters, both men and women, were raped in jail.
      Some have called for Karoubi to be arrested or tried if he failed to prove his allegations. Karoubi says he has evidence of mistreatment of detainees. Last Thursday, he said some of those arrested were killed under torture.

      Opposition leader Mirhossein Mousavi, who came second in the vote, on Tuesday lent support to Karoubi and accused “establishment agents” of raping and abusing detainees, according to the reformist website mowjcamp.com.
      “I praise your courage and hope the other clerics join and strengthen your efforts,” Mousavi said in a letter to Karoubi.
      Mousavi and Karoubi say the election was rigged to secure hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s re-election. Ahmadinejad and his allies deny it.
      Iran arrested thousands of people after the election during its worst street unrest since the Islamic revolution three decades ago.
      At least 200 people remain in jail, including senior moderate politicians, activists, lawyers and journalists. Iran has this month staged three mass trials against detainees.
      “I tried to make the events related to the election more transparent and to defend the people’s rights through my statements and letters,” Karoubi said in his letter to Larijani.
      “But unfortunately I did not receive a proper response … Police, security and paramilitary officials insisted on their own firm position,” he said.
      The poll and its turbulent aftermath have plunged Iran into its biggest internal crisis since the 1979 Islamic revolution, exposing deepening divisions within its ruling elite and also further straining relations with the West.
      Ahmadinejad is expected later on Wednesday to present a cabinet to parliament for approval but may get a rough ride from the conservatives who dominate the assembly, as well as from his moderate foes who see his next government as illegitimate.

      The wife of one of Iran’s opposition leaders today accused the nation’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of allowing violence and abuses to crush opposition supporters, including the alleged beating of her son during last week’s protests.
      Fatemeh Karroubi claimed her son Ali was savagely attacked inside a mosque by hardline militiamen amid a large-scale security crackdown on Thursday during events marking the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.
      “They beat him up and insulted him along with other people arrested. This happened in a house of God,” she wrote in an open letter to Khamenei appearing on prominent pro-reform websites Rahesabz and Sahamnews.
      The sites also posted photos purportedly showing bruises across Ali Karroubi’s back.
      She said the country’s rulers have resorted to “violence and cruelty” in attempts to wipe out dissent.
      The letter reflects the anger and dismay of many opposition groups at security operations to prevent disruptions of state-backed celebrations of the 1979 revolution. There are now questions whether the opposition can rebound with more mass street demonstrations.
      Ali Karroubi was hauled away during an attack on the motorcade of his father, Mehdi Karroubi, who ran against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in last June’s disputed elections. The elder Karroubi was not injured, but he abandoned plans to attend an opposition gathering the same day.
      Ali’s mother said her son was taken from the mosque to a security base, where he was beaten further before being released. She wrote that one agent told Ali “his family would receive his corpse” if he was allowed to continue the punishment for another day.
      She begged Khamenei to reverse the country’s direction “before more people die”. Khamenei, however, has strongly backed Ahmadinejad and the nation’s powerful Revolutionary Guard, which has led the assault on the opposition.
      “Unfortunately these days we don’t have a proper justice system or a parliament who can truly defend people and their rights,” she wrote. “So I’m asking you to help the people.”
